💔 Why are these sweet kittens—now cats—still waiting for you? 💔

They deserve a home of their own. 🏡

All of their siblings have been adopted. Somehow, these two are still waiting.

Sadly, Gene and Calie have been at PetSmart for over a month with only a few interested adopters. It’s kitten season, and everyone is looking for tiny babies. The kittens that once captured everyone’s attention are now being overlooked simply because they turned one year old.

It’s heartbreaking to watch. They are incredibly social, affectionate cats who desperately want more than a small adoption enclosure. They want sunny windows, cozy couches, loving hands to pet them, and families to call their own.

⏳ They have until July 3rd to find homes. After that, they will have to leave the store—and we honestly don’t know where they will go. 😩

These babies are true survivors. 🥺

We rescued 12 kittens from multiple shelters and separate litters. They were sick, fragile, and facing euthanasia—but we refused to let that be the end of their story.

Not all of them made it. We fought hard for every single one, and Gene and Calie are among the survivors.

🩶 Lucky — Grey Female

As tiny kittens, Lucky and Leo were found living in a parking lot. Thankfully, they were brought into foster care where they learned what it means to be safe, loved, and cared for. ❤️

Now, heartbreakingly, they are almost a year old and still waiting for their forever families. 🏡

They’ve been staying at PetSmart for the past month, but interest has fallen through time and time again. They are simply too big to continue living in such a small space, and they must leave the store by July 3rd.

💔 We need your help. Where will they go?

Leo is an incredibly handsome black cat with a sleek coat, striking eyes, and movie-star good looks. He’s the kind of cat that turns heads the moment you see him. 🖤

And Lucky? Well, her name fits her perfectly because she won the genetics lottery! 🩶 This beautiful grey girl is absolutely stunning, with soft, gorgeous coloring and a sweet face that is impossible not to love.

These sweet cats miss lounging in sunny windows, chasing toys, getting brushed, and enjoying the comfort of a real home. ☀️

Lucky and Leo are not bonded and can be adopted separately. After spending so much time confined to a small space, they’re honestly a little tired of each other! A larger home environment could make all the difference.

Akari is officially safe with One Paw At A Time after being pulled from DeKalb County Animal Services.

And honestly, her story is one of those that sits heavy on your heart.

Akari was part of a cruelty case and was held as live evidence. She appears to have had litter after litter of puppies, and her body carries the signs of a life that was never kind to her.

Despite everything she has endured, Akari is finally out of the shelter and resting safely in a foster home. Now our job is to make sure she gets the medical care she desperately needs.

Akari is heartworm positive and has a Grade 5 heart murmur. Because of the severity of the murmur, we cannot safely move forward with a heartworm treatment plan until we know exactly what is happening with her heart.

🐾 Akari urgently needs an echocardiogram.

This test will help our veterinarian determine the severity of her heart condition and what treatment options are safe for her moving forward.

💔 Estimated cost: $1,100

We are asking for help covering this critical next step in Akari’s care.

She has already survived so much. Now that she finally has a chance, we want to give her every opportunity to heal, be comfortable, and know what it feels like to be loved.
