We are blessed to see grass after 3 days of ice and snow. But in perfect fashion, guess who is calving? US! We had four SimAngus calves dropped within two days of each other before the snow storm hit, with another that calved the day snow was melting, and one left to calve.

Sure, they are all earlier than we scheduled with our bull, but we have a healthy crop of calves all within a week of each other to help with the ease of weaning at once, and growing uniform with each other at the same time. Needless to say, we will have steers available in 6 months 💵 🥩

You can’t beat selling heifer calves at 10:30pm in the dark, with the best flashlight help (Felina), and calm cattle already penned. It takes longer to get to them, than it takes to sort and load them with our amazing C&B Farm+Outdoors 50 head system. ❤️

Early morning steer roping for a BIG boy going to the processor today! The owner has tried penning these guys for a couple weeks with no success, and plenty of charges with no bluff in sight. Who wants to guess how much he weighs? 🐮

And we came back to clean up the biggest and nastiest of the wild herd dispersal! Normally you would see some gorgeous yellow dogs circling and helping us, but with these guys it would have added salt to the wound. They already were on edge about people- much less horses, and we did not need to have dog injuries (at least not today)..

6 four year old heifers each at about 1700lbs, 2 high headed mama cows, and 4 adult bulls were today’s targets! It’s jobs like these where you appreciate having experienced horses, teammates who know the next move, and backup ropes!

Do you have a herd that needs to go, while prices are high? Please reach out to us if you’re within a 2 hour radius of 28421! This is part of a 44 head herd, that is NOT pen, bunker, feed, or dog broke. In fact, they don’t have a pen or get fed and they thrive in their feral state on 50 acres.

There are big bulls that don’t bluff, mama cows who find a hole and take it, and calves who just do what everyone else is doing. We quickly set up a 6’ tall C&B Farm+Outdoors 50head holding pen in a crossing and have been feeding them for two weeks trying to tame them down and not hate us when we come back with horses. They started coming around at day 7, but we lost their trust when horses were dropped 😳 Luckily we have an amazing crew with top notch horses, who handled the charges and rough terrain with this large herd, and we all came out with no injuries. Today we are unloading over half of the herd at the Aiden sale for the owner.
