One thing people don’t always realize about grooming?

Sometimes the biggest accomplishment isn’t the haircut.
It’s building trust.

Not every dog walks into the salon confident and relaxed. Some are nervous about dryers. Some hate having their feet touched. Some had a bad experience somewhere else. Some are just puppies trying to figure out the world.

So a lot of grooming is actually about reading body language and helping dogs feel safe.

Sometimes that means slowing down.
Taking breaks.
Talking softly.
Changing our approach.
Or deciding that emotional comfort matters more than getting a “perfect” haircut that day.

Because the goal isn’t just getting through the appointment.
The goal is helping your dog learn that grooming doesn’t have to be scary.
And honestly, owners who consistently bring nervous dogs in — even when it’s hard — are doing something really important. Repeated calm experiences help dogs build confidence over time.

That patience and consistency truly matters more than you know. 🐶💕

Do you love dogs? Do you want to spend your workday on a beautiful 45-acre ranch in Killen? We’re looking for dedicated Dog Care Team Members to join our family!

At DAK’s, we aren't just a kennel—we are an outdoor paradise with swimming pools, obstacle courses, and walking trails. We are looking for people who are truly passionate about making every dog's stay an enriching experience.

💰 Pay: Up to $20/hour (based on experience & work ethic)

📍 Location: 2530 County Road 69, Killen, AL (Near Florence)

What you’ll be doing:
• Supervising playtime and outdoor activities.
• Daily care, feeding, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Administering medications and ensuring the well-being of every guest.
• Bonus: We provide training and certification in Canine First Aid & CPR! 🩺

What we’re looking for:
• A genuine love for animals (prior experience is a plus!).
• Reliability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
• Weekend and holiday availability is required.

What are you doing with that treat way up there 👀 👀? Good boy Fraggle was officially gotcha’d today 🥳🥳 He found his forever home last weekend at the North Alabama Canine Expo!! We guess you could say they thought Fraggle rocked 🤪 Way to go Fraggle 💜💜💜

Come out tomorrow to this free event! We will be in Meet the Breed with the poodles, and have a booth set up to meet my new awesome assistant groomer Jill R. Daniels who is also a very talented pet artist and will have some of her pieces out there to see and admire! Also you can learn about the Wagging Wisdom Academy and what is planned for that new endeavor!
