Please call Shelter Management for reclaim at 423-744-2747. Proof of ownership required. Found this morning on the side of Mecca Pike in Englewood. She did have a collar on with and up to date rabies tag but no contact info. She has a great temperment and seems to be recently groomed as well.

Dear Renee and Midlife Frysis Food Truck,
We are left without words and cannot thank you enough for what you have done for MRHS and the animals over the years. Not only did you support our events and serve up delicious food, but most importantly, you left an imprint on our animal and human hearts 💕. You will be greatly missed by our staff, volunteers and most importantly the animals🐾. If we can do anything to honor you, it would be to share your love of the animals. And for that, we are eternally grateful 🐾

We wanted to share another update on our little Buffalo Bill 🦬💙

This boy has come so far in 4 1/2 weeks!! He is a little wild child puppy who will officially be searching for a home of his very own next week! His hair is growing in BEAUTIFULLY, he LOVES to play with other dogs, play outside, allllllll the toys, and snacks! Lots and lots of snacks! No counters or treat bags are safe from his food inspection services 🐾 His rescue photos are posted for reference- what a glow up! 🌟

Thank you to everyone who donated to his care, and other dogs like him! Just today, a litter of puppies with demodex mange entered the shelter. Consider donating below to their care also! They will be healing in foster care and we will post photos in the comments once settled in. 💕

Below are the numbers for The Larry Dean Wallace Sr. Animal Shelter & Adoption Center for Jan. 1- September 30, 2026.

All animals are brought into the shelter through the City of Athens Shelter Management staff. The animal shelter serves all of McMinn County and staff provide the daily care of animals on site. Euthanasia was performed for illness/injury, biting and culling.

MRHS is on site to assist with the socialization and care of animals and facilitate adoptions and transport efforts for shelter animals.

Please spay and neuter your pets. Please microchip your pets and be sure their chip is registered and up to date. If you need assistance with veterinary needs, give the MRHS Spay & Neuter Clinic a call at 423-649-0370.
