MRHS works with the City of Athens to provide loving care for homeless animals from McMinn County. The MRHS Spay & Neuter Clinic and Larry Dean Wallace Sr. Adoption Center are both located at 320 S. Jackson St., Athens, TN. We share a facility with the City of Athens Animal Shelter, and are invited to be there to help socialize, transport, foster, and adopt out animals. You’ll adopt from us at thi

s location unless told otherwise! You can reach our team at the Adoption Center at 423-744-9548. MRHS does not intake or reclaim any cats or dogs at the shelter. We rely heavily on volunteers working with a small staff to save lives. Appointments for spay/neuter can be made by contacting the Spay & Neuter Clinic at 423-649-0370. Fill out a volunteer or adoption application at www.mrhumane.org! We'd love to have you join our volunteer team! Donations can be mailed to us at 320 S. Jackson St., Athens, TN 37303. Monetary support from our animal loving friends in the community as well as donations of supplies are very much appreciated! Every donation directly helps over 2,000 animals a year that MRHS helps to care for!

Our barn kitties are ready for new adventures! These cats are vetted and tested, and ready to go home with you. Adopters are required to provide food, water and a safe shelter for them. Barn cats do not have an adoption fee. We ask that adopters bring a carrier with them if they have one. 🐈‍⬛
While not so friendly now, many adopters tell us that their barn cats have become friendly companions.

🆘‼️URGENT ADOPTERS NEEDED ‼️🆘
Due to the overwhelming number of dumped strays, local law enforcement drop offs, and scheduled intakes, the shelter is continuing to operate at critical capacity. The following dogs must be ADOPTED/RESCUED by THURSDAY, 11th @ 2pm:
🐾REGGIE- Adopted
🐾MARVIN
🐾GIN- Adopted
🐾MARY - Adopted

The adoption fee has been WAIVED for these dogs. Adoption applications must be submitted on our website, www.mrhumane.org . Each adopter will also receive 1 training session with our friends at Pawsitively K9 right here in Athens.

📆We will have volunteers on site for an after hours adoption event tomorrow, Friday 5th from 5-8pm. We will also be set up at Fuller's Frame Shop and Gallery on Saturday during MooFest from 10am-3pm!

The Larry Dean Wallace Sr. Animal Shelter is continuing to operate at critical capacity. Please spay and neuter your pets! Please keep microchip information updated!
Negative comments will be removed. The Adoption Center staff and volunteers work hard in cooperation with the City Shelter Management staff to care for and find homes for the unwanted animals of McMinn County.
