National Heat Awareness Day is here, and it’s a great reminder to keep our furry friends safe from the dangers of heat! 🌞 Leaving your dog in the car, even for a few minutes, can be deadly. Temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly, causing heat stroke and other serious conditions.

To keep your dog safe in the heat:

* Never leave your dog in a parked car, even with the windows cracked.

* Provide plenty of fresh water and shade.

* Avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day.

* Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening when it’s cooler.

Did you know over half of our pets are carrying a few extra pounds? 🐾 While a little extra fluff might look cute, pet obesity is a serious health concern that can lead to joint pain, diabetes, and heart disease.

Here is how you can help your pet live their healthiest life:
✨ The Rib Test: Run your fingers over your pet’s chest. You should feel their ribs easily (like the back of your hand), without them being sharply prominent.
🥗 Portion Control: Measure their food accurately! Free-feeding or over-portioning is a common culprit.
🎾 Get Moving: Swap out extra treats for extra playtime, daily walks, or interactive food puzzles.

Memorial Day weekend is almost here! Before you fire up the grill and head to the water, here are a few pet safety reminders:

🌊 Not all pets are strong swimmers. Always supervise near water and consider a pet life jacket.
☀️ Pets can get sunburned and overheat. Provide shade and fresh water at all times.
🦟 Mosquitos and fleas are everywhere. Make sure your pet’s preventatives are up to date!
🔥 Keep pets away from the grill. Hot coals and fatty foods can both be dangerous.

Anxiety in dogs is more common than you might think, and there are lots of things that can trigger it: loud noises like thunderstorms or fireworks, changes in routine, separation from their people, new environments, and unfamiliar faces.
