ALERT - We have a late summer break coming up shortly after Labor Day, for a little rest, meetings, & some hospital maintenance.
We will be open Tuesday Sept. 8th for regular appointments, then mostly closed through Sunday Sept. 20th.

We WILL be open for Pharmacy and Food sales: Saturday Sept. 12th (8a-1p) & Friday Sept. 18th (10a-5p).

Here's yet another pet food recall: PEDIGREE® Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor Wet Dog Food.
It is often noted in which states the products were sold, but there's no note here. And these days, if it's sold online it can go anywhere.
Always be on the alert!

How to prevent Heat Stroke in pets:

Do NOT leave pets unattended in a parked car! Temps can rise to deadly levels quickly
Always provide fresh water and shade
Exercise pets during the coolest times (early morning or late evening)
Avoid intensive activity during hot or humid weather
PLEASE NOTE: Flat-faced breeds, overweight pets, elderly animals, and pets with heart or airway disease are at an especially high risk

** Seek Urgent Care for Heat Stroke treatment if:
Difficulty Breathing, Weakness or Collapse, Bright Red Gums, Unconsciousness, Confusion or Disorientation, or any Bleeding under the skin or gums.

Fleas, and especially ticks, seem to be getting worse every year. We have in stock Credelio - a chewable monthly dose of lotilaner - for both dogs and cats. In dogs it kills numerous tick species that are responsible for the spread of Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Contact us for more details!

Interesting side note - the drug lotilaner is currently in Phase 2 Clinical Trials (to establish optimal dosing, efficacy, and duration of protection) for people! Stay tuned ... hopefully we'll eventually have a (beef-flavored?) effective product for us too!!

Just wanted to give a heads-up that our office will be CLOSED the next two Saturdays (4/18 & 4/25), as we will be attending some Continuing Education meetings.
