🐾 KAI IS BACK AT CHA AND READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME 💙

Sometimes an adoption doesn't work out through no fault of the dog, and that's exactly what happened to sweet Kai. After a few months in a home, 1-year-old Kai has found himself back at CHA because his doggy brother wasn't being very nice to him. His family was incredibly sad to bring him back because Kai truly is a great boy.

Kai is a Labrador mix weighing about 50 pounds, and he comes with a pretty impressive résumé:

🐶 Great with dogs
🐱 Great with cats
👧 Great with kids
🏡 Housebroken
🚗 Loves car rides
🥰 Loves attention
💙 Only about 1 year old

Kai has already shown that he knows how to be part of a family. Now he just needs another chance to find the home where everything clicks.

He's young, loving, social, and ready to trade shelter life for couch cuddles and car rides again.

We are so lucky to have found you all! Thank you for helping us grow.

As we celebrate 25 years in the Ashland Area Enterprise Center, we’re highlighting some of the businesses that have been part of its story—starting with Soft Lines!

Soft Lines has called the Enterprise Center home since 2001, operating from one of the building’s light manufacturing spaces. The company custom manufactures rope products for the pet, marine, and sporting goods industries and has grown right alongside the Enterprise Center.

Over the years, Soft Lines has worked closely with AADC, utilizing business advising, coaching, office equipment, and shipping support. In 2026, longtime employees Heather Salley and Valia Ellsworth purchased the business from retiring owner Tom Gazdik with assistance through AADC’s loan program.

Since becoming owners, Heather and Val have also taken advantage of educational opportunities through AADC and its network partners, continuing to build the skills needed to lead and grow the company.
