Did you know that taking a lap around your neighborhood on a 6 ft leash may not be that fulfilling for your dog?

This can definitely depend on each individual dog and what their walk looks like but…

Leashed walks can feel very restricting and cause more reactivity, leash pulling, and stress related behaviors if your dog does not ever get the opportunity to freely run, sniff, jump, climb, explore, etc!

In modern society, some dogs live in environments where all outdoor activity comes from a leashed walk and they don’t have the chance to run at full speed or follow their natural instincts.

It’s not surprising that so many families rely on dog daycares to meet the needs of their dogs!

However, not every dog daycare is the same. Some dogs need slower more thoughtful introductions. Some need time to rest and decompress. Some dogs don’t really want to play in a physical way. And others can become too overstimulated and over-aroused, which can lead to reactivity in other contexts.

At our dog day club in Fairview, NC, we help dogs gain confidence, decompress, engage in enriching activities and make a dog friend or two if they seem interested! We go at each dog’s pace and set them up for success. Want to learn more?
