We rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong care for dozens of animals saved from neglect, kill pens and factory farms. All of the animals enjoy healthy food, clean shelter, and lots of room to roam every single day. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and rely on donations to care for our animal friends. At Greener Pastures we teach that all lives matter and even though we all look different on the outside, on the inside we are all the same.

Our hearts are completely broken. We have lost our beloved friend Taylor. He was 7 years old.

Taylor and his brother Lennon were among our very first rescues in Santa Ynez. They arrived with their sister Juliet, at just a few months old.

From the very beginning Taylor was sweet, gentle and SO friendly. He would stand still as a statue when someone would brush or pet him. He loved affection, gentle conversation, sleeping with his head on his brother, standing on his hind legs to eat the high leaves, and passion fruit!

Taylor was a bit of a late bloomer, letting his brother Lennon take the lead. But he became more confident as he grew up.

It’s difficult to imagine our lives without precious Taylor. We are so grateful to have had his friendship and his lovely presence in our lives. We will forever hold him in our hearts. ♥️

Serenity, aka Bruiser, is busy poking around Lambda’s head!

Chickens forage because it is an innate survival instinct hardwired into their DNA from their wild jungle fowl ancestors, who spend roughly 60% of their active time searching the ground for food.

Seven years ago today we opened our doors to a sweet little pig, who had a big weight problem!

She was going to be euthanized because she was obese, fat, blind, and terribly sunburned.

We gave her a healthy diet and a loving home. It took her about 18- 20 months to lose nearly 200 pounds! But she still could not see.

We drove her to UC Davis where she received a brow lift and her life changed forever! Soon she was walking up and down the driveway laying in the sun and meeting all her new barn friends. She even made a best friend, Kip the cat! They are such good friends that they inspired at children’s book (available on Amazon- link on our website).

Although we don’t know exactly how old Dinkey is she is definitely getting up in years and slowing way down.

Please send Dinkey well wishes, love and good vibes. She has been an inspiration to us all!

Our sweet Tina is already missed by everyone who knew her. She was calm, curious, friendly, sweet and beautiful. We are very lucky to have had so many wonderful years with her and deeply sad for all of the billions of others who weren’t as fortunate.

Tina came to us with 3 of her sisters in 2019. She had been rescued from a factory farm in Utah when the owner stopped feeding and watering hundreds, maybe thousands of hens to let them die. The factory hens were considered spent at 2 years old and therefore not profitable.

Tina lived to be 9 years old! You will always have a special place in our hearts sweet friend. Now you are truly free 🖤

Gorgeous Quirky enjoying breakfast. He is extra handsome after molting and has beautiful new feathers to show off!

Quirky and all fowl, molt to shed old, damaged feathers and grow a fresh, healthy coat of feathers. This annual process is vital for their survival and overall health.

New feathers provide a dense, clean layer of protection, warmth, and waterproofing against cold winter weather.

Our special friend loves music and conversations with his favorite people 💚

We had a blue heron visit! He/she was hunting gophers while the horses ate breakfast. Such amazing creatures 💚

“The great blue heron symbolizes patience, self-reliance, and the grace of moving forward with quiet confidence.”

When our friends get older we give them extra love and attention. These days we have quite a few older residents who are keeping us extra busy.

Tina and Patricia are two examples. We have moved them into the barn so we can tend to them.

When we clean Patricia’s area we carefully lift her outside for some sun.

Tina found Patricia and decided to spend some time with her.

Friends don’t see differences, only similarities 🖤🤍
