Shelter2Rescue Coalition is an all-volunteer rescue organization dedicated to the safe-rehoming of shelter animals. We started as a rescue facilitation organization, helping rural shelters publicize their at-risk dogs and cats, thereby dramatically reducing the need to euthanize for space. Then, as we worked with more shelters, it became very apparent that if we could just buy the dogs or cats up

for euthanasia just a little more time, you could save even more lives. The 72-hour hold limit at most shelters just wasn't enough for most dogs/cats to get out. Therefore, we expanded and built partnerships with boarding facilities, transport organizations and other nationwide rescues in order to be able to provide a temporary safe haven for dogs out of time. We have our own Shelter2Rescue Coalition adoption program. Our main program with our rural shelters is NoKill Rural Texas,found on FB. Since June 2006, through facilitation and adoption, Shelter2Rescue Coalition volunteers have saved over 7000 dogs and cats, the number grows as we do. We do our best to match up potential adopters with just the right pet as we want to ensure a lifelong placement for the rescued animal. Our adoption process includes an initial application, with reference and vet checks, home visit when able. If the match is a good one, we then have an adoption contract that is executed. We have a commitment not only to our adopted dogs and cats, but also to the families that adopt them, and we are always available to help with the transition to a new home. We check in during the first few weeks to answer any questions or help with any issues - or to just give you someone to brag to about your new baby.

Charity isn't only about giving money. It's about people choosing to make a difference.

For 20 years, Shelter2Rescue has been surrounded by people who do exactly that — people who foster, adopt, transport, volunteer, donate, share our posts and simply help an animal be seen.

Every one of those acts matters. Every one helps move another rescue journey forward. 🐾

🐾 Rescue often starts long before an animal ever leaves the shelter.

Sometimes it starts with a visit.

A little time spent getting to know a dog or cat. A good photo. A video that shows their personality. A conversation with a foster. A call to a rescue partner. A plan for transportation.

These may seem like small things, but together they can open doors for an animal who is still waiting.

Shelter2Rescue works alongside our local shelters to help animals be seen, connect them with opportunities, and give them the best chance we can.

Not every rescue story begins with an animal coming through our doors.

Sometimes it begins with simply showing up. 💙🐾

🐾 Helping them starts with helping them be seen.
These little faces may not be Shelter2Rescue kittens, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t working to help them.
Just like we do with the dogs, our team spends time with cats and kittens in local shelters — getting photos, learning about them, giving them some attention and helping share them with people who may be able to adopt, foster or connect them with a rescue.
Shelter staff already have their hands full caring for the animals coming through their doors every day. Sometimes an extra set of hands, a good photo and a little more exposure can make a big difference.
Not every part of rescue happens after an animal leaves the shelter. Sometimes it starts right there. 💙🐾

🐾 Happy update for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum! 💙
After being at Cleburne Animal Shelter since November 2025, these two sweet dogs have now left for rescue.
We were so glad to help share them, spend time with them, and help get their faces and personalities seen. Moments like this are such a reminder that being seen matters.
Sometimes it takes time.
Sometimes it takes sharing.
Sometimes it takes the right people saying yes.
And today, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum got their next chance. 🐶🐶
We love seeing these happy steps forward and wish them the very best on their new journey.

💙 20 Years Takes a Community
Behind every animal helped are people who give their time, show up, lend a hand, and help make rescue possible.
Our volunteers recently helped at the Main Street Arts Festival — one of the many ways our community comes together to support Shelter2Rescue and the work we do for cats and dogs in rural Texas shelters.
Twenty years of saving lives has never been about one person. It has always taken volunteers, fosters, rescue partners, adopters, supporters, and communities willing to help.
We are so grateful for every person who has been part of that journey. 🐾

💙 20 Years of Saving Lives 🐾
For 20 years, Shelter2Rescue has been helping animals find their way from uncertainty to safety.
There have been shelter visits, foster homes, long transports, medical care, sanctuary dogs, adoptions, incredible rescue partners — and so many people who simply said, “Yes, I’ll help.”
Thousands of little moments have made up these 20 years. A ride to safety. A foster opening their home. A volunteer taking photos. A pilot giving an animal a lift. A family choosing adoption.
Every animal has their own journey, and we’re grateful to everyone who has been part of ours.
As we celebrate 20 years in 2026, we’re looking forward to sharing more of those journeys with you throughout North Texas Giving Day season. 💙

🐾 Puppy Playtime = More Than Just Fun! 🐾
Shelter life is especially tough on puppies who just want the freedom to run, play, explore, and be puppies!
Zucchini and Romaine, a brother-and-sister duo, had the BEST time getting out for some playtime together. 💙 Between all the running and wrestling, we squeezed in a little people time and a few cuddles too—although these busy pups didn’t stay still for long! 😂
Time like this is so important. It gives puppies exercise, interaction and a break from their kennels—and it gives us the chance to capture fun photos and videos that show their personalities and help us network them for fosters and rescue.
🎉 PUPDATE — IT’S GOOD NEWS!
Those photos, videos and networking helped! Zucchini and Romaine now have a foster AND a partner rescue ready to help them. 🐾💙

Earlier this year, this sweet pup was one of several who got a very special ride — a private flight to safety through Shelter2Rescue and our amazing pilot, Bill. ✈️🐶
Moments like this are exactly why The Power of 3 matters. Transportation is one part of the journey, helping animals leave overcrowded shelters and reach the rescues and opportunities waiting for them.
