Last year's team pumpkin decorating contest was chaos in the best way. We had claws, fangs, and one suspiciously accurate Dr. Rachal pumpkin (we won't say who made it). This year's contest is coming up fast, who's ready to defend their title?

Think your pumpkin could take the crown? Stay tuned for this year's contest date.

💗 Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and our fur friends are wearing their pink to show some love. 🎀🐾

This month, we honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and stand beside the families and friends who have been affected by breast cancer.

And because we can’t resist adding a little veterinary science: dogs and cats can develop mammary tumors, too. Changes such as a new lump, swelling, discharge, or anything that simply feels different are worth bringing to your veterinarian’s attention.

Our fur babies can’t tell us when something has changed. That’s where observant humans and regular exams make a pretty great team. 💗

Here’s to a month of awareness, early detection, compassion, and lots of pink.

🎀 Drop a 💗 below for someone you’re honoring this month.

Needles? For my dog?? Yes, and hear us out. 🪡

Acupuncture isn't just a "woo woo" wellness trend, it's legit veterinary medicine that's been around for thousands of years, and Dr. Rachal has been trained in it since 2019.

Here's the gist: tiny needles at precise points on your pet's body to help calm inflammation, ease chronic pain, and get their whole system back in balance. Think of it as the ultimate reset button, especially for pets dealing with arthritis, mobility issues, or chronic conditions that conventional meds alone haven't fully solved.

The best part? We're not "acupuncture or nothing" people. We pair it with western medicine when that's what's going to help your pet most, because at the end of the day we just want them feeling like themselves again.

Curious if your pet's a good candidate? That's exactly what we're here to talk through. 🐾

🔎 THE CASE OF THE MYSTERIOUS LIMP

8:03 AM: Limping dramatically.
8:17 AM: Appointment scheduled.
10:02 AM at the vet: “Limp? Me? Never heard of it.”🐶

Sound familiar? 😂

Our fur friends have an incredible talent for making symptoms disappear the second they enter the clinic which is why videos from home can be incredibly helpful.
If your fur baby is limping, moving differently, reluctant to jump, favoring a leg, or suddenly less interested in their usual activities, grab a quick video when it’s safe to do so. It can give your veterinarian useful information about what you’re seeing at home.

And remember: pain isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s a subtle change in movement, posture, activity, or behavior.

📱 Quick tip: Keep the video on your phone and show us at the appointment. Your fur baby may have already decided to destroy the evidence. 😉🐾

We have questions about your pet’s browser history. 👀

If our patients had access to Google, we’re pretty sure things would get weird FAST.

🐶 “Is second breakfast medically necessary?”
🐱 “How to knock something off a counter and make it look accidental.”
🐶 “I ate something weird. Should I tell my human?”
🐱 “Why does my veterinarian keep talking about my weight?”
🐶 “Can a tennis ball be my emergency contact?”

When something about your pet actually has you searching the internet at midnight, ask us. 🩺🧠

There are no silly questions in veterinary medicine. Changes in appetite, thirst, bathroom habits, weight, behavior, mobility, skin, ears...or just that feeling that “something seems off”...can all be useful information.
We’d much rather answer the weird question than have you worry about it.

Now for the important research:
👇 What would be #1 in YOUR pet’s search history?

PSA: if your pet is extra cute, extra sweet, or extra anything, our staff WILL start planning their kidnapping. 🐾

This is a normal Tuesday at AHCC. We fall in love with your pets on a professional level and we are not sorry about it.

Our favorite kind of getaway: the education kind. 🤓🐾📚

Our team spent the weekend in San Antonio at SWVS, soaking up continuing education, exploring new ideas, asking lots of questions, and ... of course...finding a little time for the River Walk and the Alamo. 🤠

Now we are back at work, bringing all that new knowledge with us.

We’re a team that genuinely loves to learn. Veterinary medicine never stops evolving, and neither should we. Prioritizing continuing education helps us keep growing, challenge the way we think, and bring better knowledge and skills back to the patients and families who count on us.

Basically, we’re proud to be able to learn, stay current and bring our knowledge back to offer the BEST care. 💙🐾

Learn things. Practice good medicine. Repeat.

These laser therapy goggles are sending us. Every dog has main character energy in their doggles, and honestly? We're obsessed.

Laser therapy helps with pain relief, inflammation, and healing, but the real bonus is watching our patients become certified cool guys in the process. 10/10 treatment, 10/10 drip. 😎

Swipe to see which internal monologue matches your dog's energy, then tell us in the comments!
