October is finally here, and that means it’s time to start getting ready! 🎃👻🦇

Halloween is my favorite time of year, so by default it’s my dog’s “favorite” too. Halloween costumes? We got ‘em. Pup-safe Halloween treats? Check. Spooky decor? Always.

One thing that about Halloween that is not my dog’s favorite? Strangers coming to the door. That’s why we always keep her crate nearby when trick-or-treaters start to come through.
It’s her safe place where she can relax and understand she does not need to protect our house from every ghoul and goblin that comes looking for a treat.
After four years of this she now goes to her crate when the doorbell rings, eagerly anticipating the delivery of her treat after the trick-or-treaters collect theirs. No chaos, no commands, no dragging the dog away from the door. Just simple, reinforced actions that she adopted as part of her routine.

What are your tips for a less stressful spooky season with your dog?

My boss thinks I spend too much time on Instagram. I think I need to spend more time on Instagram. So we made a bet.

If we hit 5K followers by October 1, I get to say “I told you so” at work. We’re 83 away.

Please follow for dogs, crates, and the chance to help an employee win an argument with her boss 😝✨
