FINALLY! THE REASON FOR THIS ENTIRE WEEK! Introducing our incredible RVTS!👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Katie is our lead RVT and the boss of the back of the clinic! She’s been with us for THIRTEEN years, and somehow, she still hasn’t gotten sick of Dr. McMullan’s sass. 😂 She’s his right hand lady for surgery and starts her mornings calculating medications, setting up the surgical suite, and getting gowns and packs ready for the day. She’s a BIG lover of hound dogs and bully breeds, and her laugh is truly contagious. Nobody gets the whole clinic laughing quite like Katie when she laughs so hard she brings herself to tears! When she’s not keeping surgery running smoothly, she’s probably listening to Sierra Ferrell, Billy Strings, or Taylor Swift. Yes, she’s a Swiftie. 💁🏻‍♀️

Amy has been with us for TEN years, and she’s truly one of the kindest, most calming people you’ll ever meet. She has magical wavy/curly hair, and we lovingly refer to her as our majestic Friesian horse.🐴 She has a special place in her heart for the elderly critters and is always happy to seek out the golden retriever appointments. 🐾 When she’s not at the clinic, you can find her hiking, visiting pick-your-own flower farms, antiquing, or collecting cool rocks, feathers, dried flowers, and just about anything else she finds outside. This girl simply cannot resist a good trinket! We’re so grateful for the kindness, warmth, and love for animals she’s brought to our team over the last decade.

Katie D. has been with us for NINE years now. We just can’t seem to shake her! She’s constantly singing, and her voice can be heard echoing loudly down the hallways. She’s our angry cat handler, exotic critter enthusiast, plant caretaker, and social media manager all in one!

When she’s not pampering her cats, Carl and Andy, or misting her praying mantis enclosure, you can find her downtown at one of the local karaoke spots. 🎤 Orrr maybe you don’t find her at all…. She’s probably in bed sleeping till 3pm.

Jemmy has been with us for five years now, and they do anything and everything at the clinic! Whether they’re loving on an elderly pit bull, changing the printer toner, educating us about new moss or bug facts, or covering the reception desk, they can truly do it all. Jemmy is a crucial part of our team, and we’re so lucky to have them!

When they’re not at work, they enjoy visiting their parents in Virginia, going fishing, lying on patches of moss, and playing video games.

Elsa recently graduated from AB Tech with her veterinary technology degree! All she has left is passing a tricky test called the VTNE, and then she’ll be an RVT!

Elsa keeps us calm during the most stressful moments. She wears bulky tennis shoes that we lovingly refer to as her “hooves.” She loves the color pink, arts and crafts, and being an aunt to her little niece. 💕

Logan has been with us for ONE WEEK, so we’re just beginning to get to know him! He previously worked in pet stores, and this is his first experience in veterinary medicine. We’re already inspired by his eagerness to learn and ask questions!

Logan loves himself some SpongeBob and Dungeons & Dragons. Thanks for joining us, Logan!!!! We’re pumped to have you!

Dr. McMullan is our collective hospital dad! He’s our founder, head doctor, and has been named Best Vet by Mountain Xpress for SIX YEARS IN A ROW! 🏆 He’s a self-proclaimed “helper” and never leaves us hanging, always making sure his staff is taken care of before heading home. We’re pretty lucky to have someone who cares about us so much!

He has an obsession with beagles, a bizarre taste in music, and spends just about all his free time biking, hiking, or backpacking with his family—or attending a “rock show.” (Yes, he refers to just about every band as a “rock show.” )

Dr. Golden has been with us since 2019, and everyone loves working with her! If the staff is too busy, she doesn’t hesitate to jump in and handle an entire appointment on her own. She’s always ready to lend a hand in the back, whether we need someone to draw blood or tackle a nail trim. She also brings endless humor to the office, which is especially appreciated on stressful days!

When she’s not at work, she’s busy making just about anything and everything…. jam, wreaths, soaps, crackers, you name it! We’re lucky enough to get to enjoy the delicious and creative results of all her many talents. ❤️

Dr. Jiamachello has been with us for three years now, and she’s the sweetest little angel vet around! 😇 She never loses her cool, even when an aggressive pet is trying to eat her alive. She’s calm, collected, and incredibly caring, and she’ll spend as much time as needed with her appointments to make sure every client truly understands their pet’s health. Her patience and compassion make such a difference to our patients, their people, and our team.

Jess has been with us since 2025, and our front desk couldn’t function without her! She may, in fact, be the most professional of all of us. 😂 Her hilarious husband has taken up the habit of sketching out her day at work after she recaps it every night, and these drawings bring us SO much joy! Jess loves donkeys and goats and can commonly be found working as a veterinary assistant in the back, too. She’s truly a jack of all trades.

Jasper is the second newest face at Pinnacle, and we are SO GRATEFUL to have them here! They’ve been with us for just one short month, and we’re so excited to have them on our team! Outside of work, Jasper enjoys wood burning, sewing, painting, and animals in general. 🪡 They also have a cat named Dino-Nugget, which might just be one of the best cat names we’ve ever heard! We’re looking forward to getting to know Jasper better and couldn’t be happier to have them at Pinnacle! 💚

To start Staff Appreciation Week, we would love to highlight Barbara! 💚💛

Barbara is our practice manager and resident mother. She’s always looking out for everyone’s well being and is particularly concerned when Dr. McMullan decides to engage in dangerous, adventurous outdoor activities. 😂 She has a generalized mistrust of Amazon.com and a deep appreciation for elephants and her grand dog, Rocky.

Barbara is constantly providing us with encouragement, snacks, and praise, and she’s even willing to jump in and sweep a room when needed! She wears many hats around here, and we are so grateful for everything she does to keep our team going.

This week is Staff Appreciation Week! Aka. the week we get spoiled with lots of free food! 🍕🍩

While this week is traditionally known as Veterinary Technician Week, we choose to celebrate our entire staff while taking a little extra time to recognize our licensed RVTs and all the amazing things they do! 💚

We recently saw Miss Iris for her annual exam with Dr. Golden! 🐾

Iris was feeling a little nervous when she came back to the treatment area for her heartworm test, so she found a random cat bed on the ground to provide a little moral support! 😂❤️ She says “If I fit, I sits!”

Despite her nerves, Iris did wonderful! She got her heartworm test, updated her annual vaccines (including Bordetella and flu), and checked out great on her annual exam! 🎉

We’re sorry you felt a little nervous, Miss Iris, but we’re so proud of you! We love you! 🥰🐶

Say hello to the scruffiest little guy in town! 🐾 Meet Tucker! His mom recently adopted him from Burke County Animal Shelter, and we couldn’t be happier for him!

He’s been home with his new family for about 30 days now. He was originally supposed to be a trial run, but Tucker hopped right into the car himself, and his mom quickly decided he wasn’t going anywhere!

Today, Tucker started his leptospirosis vaccine series, and he’ll be back in 3 weeks for his booster!

We absolutely loved getting to meet this sweet, scruffy little guy, and we’re so glad he’s joined the Pinnacle family! 🐶

Meet Lincoln! 🐱 We recently saw this little guy because he just wasn’t acting like himself. He was hissing at the other cat in the house, sitting a little funny, and spending a lot of time laying around instead of being his usual playful self.

His moms told us that Lincoln and the new kitten play a LOT and tend to chomp on each other while they’re playing. We couldn’t find an obvious wound, but cat teeth are fine and sharp and can easily cause puncture wounds that lead to abscesses.

We could tell Lincoln just didn’t feel good when he got here. He laid quietly on the exam table and didn’t even protest when we took his temperature. Poor guy had a temperature of 104.5°F! 🥵 For cats, the high end of normal is around 102.5°F.

We gave him some subcutaneous fluids, sent him home with antibiotics and pain medication, and thankfully, he is now back to his normal self and doing great! ❤️

His mom sent us this adorable update picture of Lincoln snuggled up with his big brother, Cooper.

Losing a member of the family is never easy, and we’re here to help make your pet’s final moments as peaceful and comfortable as
possible.

Recently, we had a sweet patient come in for euthanasia, and Katie W went above and beyond to make his final moments extra special. She put together a little charcuterie board of dog treats, along with some extra tasty treats including a donut, chocolate chip cookie, whipped cream, and a cupcake. ❤️ No pet should cross the rainbow bridge without getting to taste chocolate!

We want our families to know that we’re always happy to create keepsakes to help you remember your pet. We can make clay paw prints and provide fur clippings if you’d like them.

Saying goodbye is never easy, but we’re honored to be there for you and your pet.
