So weird post, but we’re a quirky bunch. A few years back (9ish years ago), we started this game amongst the staff where if you found Mr. Rooter, you were then responsible for hiding him, and the process would repeat.

Well, Mr. Rooter has been lost for 3 LONG YEARS.

Today, Barbara came to the back and said, “I found a little guy!” Obviously, all of us were confused until we looked in the toilet tank. 🚽

MR. ROOTER HAS BEEN FOUND!

We had to explain our little game to Barbara and give Mr. Rooter a bath. We hope to resume our game shortly!

Sadly, Mr. Rooter looks like he’s aged more like 10 years instead of 3, but we’ve got to applaud our previous receptionist, Sam, who takes credit for this amazing hiding spot.

On Wednesday we got a very special visitor! Taylor stopped by to introduce us to the newest addition to her family! 💕 Sloane arrived on May 9th and we were so excited to meet her and admire her tiny toes.

Thank you for visiting us, Taylor, and letting us admire your new little one! Be sure to let us know if you need any help with potty training or crate training. We can also recommend some great trainers 😉JK JK JK

Meet this handsome gentle giant! This is Chief, and he’s a lover, not a fighter. In fact, he got a new little puppy sister 4 days ago and gets really anxious if he’s separated from her. 🥹

Chief also gets a little nervous at the vet, so we spent some extra time sitting with him, giving him treats, and helping him feel comfortable. Once he settled in, he was the perfect gentleman for the techs during his blood draw and for Dr. Golden during his exam. ❤️🐾

Bo came in for her annual exam and to get her heartworm test up to date! 🩺

In this picture, Natalie is drawing blood from her cephalic vein. For a heartworm test, we only need 3 drops of blood! Our tests are called a 4DX and only take about 10 minutes to run. These test also screen for tick borne diseases such as Ehrlichia, Lyme disease, and Anaplasma.

Unfortunately for us here in Asheville, it never gets quite cold enough for long enough to completely wipe out the mosquitoes, so we do recommend keeping your pets on heartworm prevention year-round 🦟 According to the American Heartworm Society, North Carolina is also one of the top 10 states with the highest number of heartworm cases. Mosquito eggs can start hatching once temperatures reach around 50 degrees outside.

Bo was obviously a little nervous, but once the poke was over, she was jumping all around and greeting other employees! Great job being so brave, Bo! Don’t forget to keep your pet on heartworm prevention year round!

Mr. Snuggles came in recently and left with a new identity! 😂 Mr. Snuggles is officially now Ms. Snuggles!

She came in to establish care and get scheduled for a future neuter… but surprise! It turns out we actually need to get her scheduled for a spay instead.

Believe it or not, this happens more often than you’d think with a variety of species. To make sure she hadn’t already been spayed, Dr. McMullan shaved her tummy to check for a previous spay scar before scheduling her upcoming procedure.

Meet Beau! 👋

Beau is a retriever, so he’s living up to his breed by growing all the bumpies! Luckily, most of them just feel like fatty masses, which usually aren’t a big concern.

Dr. Golden aspirated several of Beau’s masses and looked at them under the microscope to help determine what they are. 🔬

Lipomas are the most common tumor found in dogs. They are benign lumps made up of fat cells that form just under the skin. They are generally soft, squishy, and easily movable.

Luckily for Beau, the majority of his bump friends seem to be lipomas! The 2nd picture is a a collection of fat cells aspirated from one of Beau’s masses!

We’re changing Dax’s name to ATM 💸

This child (who just so happens to belong to Dr. Golden’s sister) tried to make a snack out of some cash, but unfortunately his tummy did not accept paper money as a form of payment 🤮

Thankfully, Dax decided to issue a refund and brought some of it back up 💵 Unfortunately, the cash is no longer usable.

This ATM already has a history of eating mango seeds, children’s toys, and bedding. Cash is a new one. Make better snack choices Dax!

Echo here might have a case of mistaken identity 🐔

You see, this week she indulged in some chicken feed and now isn’t feeling too great. We understand she has a comb on her head like chickens do, and we think this may have led to some confusion for her 🤔

We did our best to explain to her that she is, in fact, a dog and should not snack on seeds and pellets.

With the help of some meds and our little chat, we hope this girlie is feeling better in no time!

BUT all jokes aside, her mom does all of her grooming! 👏👏👏 We think Echo is one of the coolest looking pups around.

Sometimes our patients love us SO much they send us home with little gifts to remember them by 🎁

On Friday, one of our guinea pig patients loved Amy so much that he repeatedly pooped 💩 in her pocket during his visit… and she didn’t discover the surprise until the end of the day 😂

But honestly, our pockets are a whole different world. Tiny turds, nail trimmings, fur clumps, smushed treats, syringes caps… you never really know what’s going to be in there.
