Can a cat get pregnant while she's still nursing? Yes. And it can happen within just a few weeks of giving birth.

We know — it doesn't seem possible. She just had kittens. She's exhausted. She's feeding babies around the clock. But unlike humans, cats don't experience any hormonal suppression of fertility during nursing. She can go into heat again shockingly fast — and if she has access to an intact male, another pregnancy can happen before her current kittens are even close to independent.

It's one of the biggest drivers of kitten overpopulation — and one of the most preventable.

Most kittens are lactose intolerant. That means cow's milk often causes diarrhea, dehydration, and serious health risks — especially for very young kittens. And in a fragile newborn, something that seems small can turn dangerous quickly.

Meet Cecil. If you're thinking, "Wait... that's not a kitten," you're absolutely right.

This tiny 2-week-old puppy arrived yesterday in rough shape—very skinny, incredibly hungry, full of parasites, and clearly in need of some extra support. The good news? He's already settling in beautifully, eating like a champion, and making himself right at home.

We don't take in puppies very often, but sometimes a baby needs help and you simply step up.
