Our rescue phone has had 8 missed calls from just from today. On Friday we had 13.

My Voice Mail specifically gives instructions for those looking to surrender a pet. It says, “we currently are not accepting surrenders however, if you’d like our help networking or sharing your pet to other Rescue partners, please send us a text message with details on the animal, including an image.” It also instructs potential adopters to please leave a voicemail for a call back!

The reason my voicemail is set up this way is because I can not be taking 13 calls a day while working full time and running the rescue!!!

The kicker is, out of all of these missed calls I have received ONE text message!! And that didn’t even include a fraction of the requested info.

If it’s not important to the current owner, why should it be important to me!?

The rescue now has its own separate phone number, separate from my personal phone. Otherwise I’d go crazy! 🤪

Well dang yall!!!

When we get senior pets into our care the first thing I like to do is senior bloodwork.
Make sure everything’s working the way it should and everyone is as healthy as possible.

Cooner (the itty bitty guy) was a surrender to animal services, he was in rough shape, with his nails so long they crisscrossed. At our visit this evening he was just diagnosed with ringworm, a grade 2 heart murmur, but his CBC and proBNP came back flawless! He’ll be available to be adopted after he completes his medication for the ringworm.

Chuckie (the larger brindle) was diagnosed with a grade 3 murmur, and with a pretty crumby ProBNP … meaning his hearts been under pressure/stress for quite sometime. He’s getting placed on a heart medication, and after one month we will be able to get him neutered 🙏

Chance- one of our old timers whose been with us a year and a half 😭 had been peeing a bit more than I thought was normal, is CBC came back good his heart sounds good but he has a UTI so we’re going home with meds for that!

Another day another vet trip and more $$$ spent saving lives ❤️❤️❤️

Amelia is unfortunately back with us 😞
We’ll call it, “right people, wrong environment”

Amelia was with her people, for 6 weeks, and even though she was friendly, calm and social here, she began displaying unfriendly behavior towards other dogs ON leash. She’s a small dog, with a big heart, and I do believe she assigned herself the role of protection dog for her people, which she needs to know, is not necessary.

Amelia will be back looking for a Furever home, she’s silly, sweet, smart and fast! She loves running on our property and has excellent recall!

Her ideal home would have a fenced in backyard, or dedication to working through her leash issues.
We will be re-evaluating her over the next week to ensure we find the perfect home!

And just when you think you have a choice in the matter … you don’t 😆

We’ve slowed down helping larger dogs, simply because we have NO place to house them while we wait for our new building to be completed. This breaks my heart and it sucks ❤️‍🩹

But instead of not helping, I’ve shifted my focus to smaller senior dogs in need. In the last two days we acquired TWO senior chihuahuas, one from DeSoto animal services and one from Labelle.

While at Labelle, which is a facility 100% outside 😭 I saw this small, underweight mixed dog with a horrible eye infection, just laying in her concrete kennel panting. She was so friendly as I approached, and it was clear she also couldn’t see out of her good eye. I don’t know where this gal is going to go, but it’s going to be a hell of a lot better than this place.

Now don’t get me wrong- the staff, volunteers and kennel techs at Labelle care and are doing their best with what they got. Labelle government can suck it, because this facility is ASS!!!!!!

Now we need donations to help get all 3 of these babies seen by a vet 🙏❤️‍🩹

Happy Saturday from Josephine! ☀️

She’s spent her morning running and playing with her rescue friends, but we know what she really wants: a family to call her own!

Josephine is sweet, silly, wiggly, and full of personality. She LOVES people and is learning to feel brave in a big, noisy world. She may play a little hard, but her heart is always in the right place.
