Naturally raised eggs, rabbits, & livestock

Simple, homegrown, intentional 🤎
From my heart, to your home 🫀🏡

In 2017, when I was 14, I started my farm, underneath my dad's (Elduets Farm). I have slowly grown it from 1 Wooly/Angora rabbit to a variety of animals. I offer duck eggs from Mallards & Pekins, Muscovies seasonally. I raise Holland Lop, Lionhead, & LionLop rabbits. Early in 2021, I lost my first ever breeding rabbit & first pet that I ever had, to predators, along with her daughter & 3 granddaug

hters. I have 1 granddaughter left & I have decided to not breed that bloodline anymore, but to keep her in memory of "Cotten". I got my first 2 gilts (female) Kune Kune piglets (Ginger Snap & Truffle) in August 2021. In August 2021, I changed my farm name from "Kytty's Hobby Farm Life" to "Hearts & Home Farm". My plan is to eventually get sheep, a pony, & maybe more animals in the next couple of years. Thanks for following my adventures!

I’ve had to deal with escaping cattle, pigs, & a LGD. Did I rehome any of them? No. Has it been a lot of work? Yes. Will I rehome them just because of hard work? No. Does my animals’ feed bill cost more than my grocery bill? Yes. 🤣

This post may offend people, but honestly, I’m past the point of not saying anything‼️

The surrender requests keep coming in, and I feel like a broken record saying the same thing over and over:

KEEP. YOUR. COMMITMENT.

Even after the devastating videos of Sebastian losing his home, we somehow received MORE requests from people wanting to give up their animals. These are REAL statements we’ve received:

“My pig got uncontrollably big.” —> not a reason to rehome your pig.
Piglets grow into pigs. That’s how biology works. Overfeeding also leads to obesity.

“My pig keeps getting out.” —> not a reason to rehome your pig.
Proper fencing exists. Hog panels. T-posts. Space to roam. This is fixable.

“I just don’t have the time.” —> not a reason to rehome your pig.
Do you think we magically have more time? We care for 150 animals while working full-time jobs.

“We are moving.” —> not a reason to rehome your pig.
Your pig can move with you.

“We are moving into a neighborhood that doesn’t allow pigs.”
→ You already knew you had pigs when you chose where to move.

“We are emotionally, physically and financially exhausted caring for our 4 bunnies and 2 cats.”
→ How do you think WE feel caring for 150 animals while juggling jobs, bills, emergencies, heartbreak, and messages like this daily?

Animals are not temporary entertainment until life gets inconvenient.

They are living beings you made a commitment to.

Research before you get an animal.
Prepare before you buy.
And stop expecting rescues and sanctuaries to clean up every avoidable decision people make.

Sunday is meant to be a day of rest. I wanna start a new thing called weekly worship. Each Sunday at noon on my farm page, I’ll share a Bible verse, song, or something else that God has used to speak to me.

Today was a great “day off”!
Took care of all the farm animals at my house (8 goats/sheep in my garden, 15 small adult birds in the coop, & 37 baby birds in my garage. 🙃)

After that, I took the dogs on hours of adventures while listening to some great songs on Spotify: time at our local dog park to burn some energy before they joined me on my walk & talk study group. Then we popped by Lazarette St. Bakeshop for pup cups, Eiskaffee (for me 😆), & to wish the owner congrats on reaching level 40 of life (just missed her 🥲), but I got to see some old faces I haven’t seen since I left in January.

Then we made a quick stop at our free local spring water station (been putting this off for months 😅, but best water ever!), before heading to Downtown Augusta for The Augusta Market, of which Juniper said was too much, so we went & “stalked” my husband (Asa Capell) & his friends playing Disc Golf at Patriots Park (He knew I was there once I found them on the course. Life360 was a big help. 😂), before heading home for the day.

I love this life & that God has blessed me with the opportunity to be an animal lover/farmer & small business owner! 🥰

Looking for new homes:
- 2 Splash Swedish drakes (not pictured, mostly white/greyish blue)
- ~6-8 Muscovy drakes
- 2 roosters (not pictured: 1 is mostly white & the other is closer to bantam size, mostly black with some coloring around the neck)
- 2 Cotton Patch Ganders

*The ganders & some of the white Muscovies do have Angel Wing, but that doesn't affect their capabilities.

5 Turkey & 8 Guinea fowl eggs are in the incubator. I only have 2 hens of each right now, so I wasn’t able to get a full clutch incubator in a week of collecting. T-24 days from today.

I prepared ahead a little & "ordered" some poults from Neck of the Woods Farm, that I picked up today, since I knew I wasn't going to have a lot of turkey eggs for the incubator, & I don't know how many will hatch. These cuties were hatched around Mother's Day! Here’s hoping at least 2, if not 3, are hens. 🙏🏻
