Dog Agility Classes by Paw Prints Dog Club

Dog Agility Classes by Paw Prints Dog Club Learn how to train your dog to participate in the sport of dog agility. Classes offered by Paw Prints Dog Club:

Beginner: This is a pre-agility class.

We have fun, relaxed classes for teams just starting their journey and for those competing at top levels.🐾 The emphasis is on building a strong working relationship between the dog and handler, basic handling skills and an introduction to the agility equipment. Prerequisite: It is recommended that the dog be able to sit, down, stay and come when called, but not required. Aggressive dogs are not a

llowed in group class. Novice: The dogs learn how to perform all of the agility obstacles in this class and begin sequencing. Prerequisites: Dogs must be fit and trim, be able to sit, down and stay. They must also have a good recall and the ability to stay with and work with their handler off-leash. Aggressive dogs are not allowed in group classes. Advanced Foundation Skills: The dog and handler will learn the foundation skills necessary to successfully navigate agility courses. Some of the skills covered are: Front crosses, blind crosses, rear crosses, push backs, 180's, 270's, Serpentines, threadles, converging lines, obstacle discrimination, shaping the dogs path and weave pole entry and exit skills. Prerequisites: Student must have successfully completed Novice or equivalent. Handling: Full course work. Dog and handler are presented with challenging full courses to fine tune the skills learned in previous levels. International handling skills are also introduced. This class prepares the student for competition. Prerequisites: Dogs must have completed Advanced Foundation Skills or equivalent. Private lessons and specialty classes are also available. It's baaaack....!!!!

Super Skills 3.0, now with extra PUPPY!

I have had this course since 2020, and I am really proud of it. I put it on the shelf for a bit, but I think its time to bring it back out. Given I have a puppy and have been working through these things with him, there is no reason not to dust off the good stuff with some updates.

This course is great for anyone with a sports-focused puppy, and also, its critical learning for anyone at any stage, who feels like their foundations could use some shoring up.

We cover the basics of learning theory, reinforcement, shaping, marker cues, clean loops, stimulus control, and more. And this time around, I will be weaving in some specific critical foundation skills that I feel are absolutely necessary for any agility dog (and for really any sport dogs!).

Obstacle skills are not part of this class. Some of the later lessons are a bit more "choose your own adventure" as we work through the theory (so older dogs can certainly add in obstacle work), but it is not focused on training equipment skills. I want people to better understand the larger concepts at play and learn how to improve their mechanics, so that your training becomes more effective.

These are the concepts we *should* be learning, but largely aren't as a sporting community.

Registration will open next Monday, 8/24 at 9am PST on Topo Dogs.

Working spots are $225, auditing $115

Why does your dog nail the weaves in class and pop out at the trial? Or hold a rock-solid start line everywhere except the one place it counts?

In the third live podcast of the Run Happy series, Esteban, Sarah, and Jennifer walk through the eight things happy handlers do differently, then work through real problems you sent in: weaves, start line stays, treat-dependent dogs, and contacts that turn into fly offs at trials.

You Will Learn:
➡️ The eight mindset shifts that separate handlers enjoying the sport from those stuck in the Valley of Despair
➡️ How your own emotional state travels down the leash, and what to do when you feel yourself slipping into the valley
➡️ How to approach problems with: weave poles, broken start line stays, treat-dependent dogs, and stopped contacts that turn into fly offs at trials
