For those of you new here, this is Miracle. She was one of 5 babies born to 5 very pregnant mares about to head to sl@ughter in MX when we saved them. She was born to a tiny mama in kidney failure who could not give birth to her naturally- we had them at the vet hospital for kidney failure- and when Miracle was born, mama Caroline had no milk to give and was in such poor condition that we had to hire a nurse mare to raise Miracle. Now, Miracle is 1 year and 2 months old, and she is such a special part of our rescue. Her resilience so early in life had us all fighting for her every step of the way.
YESTERDAY- May 22
When our normal vet got there AGAIN yesterday, she said “She definitely needs to go to the hospital.” Thankfully we finally found an amazing (new) friend to help us get her there- while my leg is out of commission. It took 3 hours for them to load her, but thank God she got in with the help of our vet! We love you, Dr. C!
She stood the whole way to the vet, despite spending most of the day laying down…
My amazing selfless sister, our other half, , met her at the hospital in Norco, where the vets took her in. Our vet there is so sweet and it helps so much in these times of stress.
She is running a fever, is dehydrated, appears to have sand in her tummy, but thank the heavens she did not rupture and nothing seems to be twisted! 🙌🏻 We are all hoping it is sand colic, the other thing is she might have eaten a foreign object, in which case, she would need surgery which is 💲11,000-💲16,000 on its own. 😞 please pray she doesn’t need the surgery, I don’t think we could get the support needed to get it done.
She will stay for over the weekend, to monitor and to continue to treat her, removing sand, seeing if she gets better or declines, until we know more.
Our current expenditure for this is 💲3875 but by end of wknd it will be over 💲5000. Every dollar helps and counts! Thank you all! She’s like our daughter, the Triple J child, and she needs us. We will fight with her!
