If your dogâs leash manners disappeared over the summer, September is the perfect time for a reset.
Summer changes routinesâtravel, guests, late nights, inconsistent walks, more freedom and less structure. And when structure disappears, behavior usually starts slipping with it.
You may notice:
⢠More pulling on walks
⢠Ignoring commands they previously knew
⢠Increased excitement or reactivity
⢠Difficulty settling at home
That doesnât mean you need to start training from scratch. You need to rebuild consistency.
Start here:
1. Get back to consistent walks and training times.
2. Require calm behavior before giving freedom.
3. Practice obedience in real-world environmentsânot just inside the house.
Small amounts of structure every day will do more than one long training session once a week.
