Our CNY NAVHDA training day started much colder than we wanted for mid April but we made the best of it.

We had some young dogs visit to work on pointing tonight along with our four doing steady and honor work. 7 dogs, 30 pigeons and 2 hours went very well.

Larry was my first mentor and instrumental in training our first GSP Skye. His guidance, wit, patience and passion to get others into training bird dogs will stay with me. He will be deeply missed.

NAVHDA International is saddened to learn of the passing of long-time member and former judge, Larry Lawton.

A member since 1983, a Judge in 1993, and a Senior Judge in 2006.

Larry judged 110 NAVHDA tests and 744 dogs, retiring from judging in 2021.

Our thoughts are with his family.

What a good week of hunts we have had. Got a doe on Saturday then got a nice rooster pheasant hunt with Jax yesterday (see his before and after photos). Today a limit of pheasants; great company, great dogs and great times.

We took some friends and relatives to the preserve to kick off the opening weekend of NY deer season. This was the second year we did this and it looks like it will be the new tradition. Upland Game Preserve

Today we got back out on the pheasant fields after a light snow. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer crisp November morning.

The wood ducks are hanging out on the pond so Biscuit and McNally both got their first wood ducks in the last week. The boys were very excited to get to see it all go down from the second story window overlooking the ponds.
