🐾 Great Care. Lower Costs.
MORE Included! 💜🩵
Clinic’s are Monthly !

Did you know there are affordable spay and neuter options right here in the East Bay? And did you know that SNIP Bus (Spay Neuter Imperative Project) offers some of the lowest prices while including MORE in the cost of your pet’s procedure?

I put together this price comparison of SNIP Bus, Animal Fix Clinic, and Joybound to help pet owners understand their options and make informed decisions for their furry family members. 🐶🐱
Clinic’s are Monthly!!

Here’s what makes SNIP stand out:

🩵 Affordable pricing — SNIP is the lowest-cost option in many categories!

💉 Core vaccines INCLUDED! Dogs receive DAPP and cats receive FVRCP, along with Rabies vaccination, at no additional charge.

💊 Pain medication to go home and a cone for dogs are included at no additional charge.

🩺 Experienced veterinary professionals! SNIP currently employs veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) who have worked, or continue to work, with the other organizations featured in this comparison. That means you can access affordable care from professionals with experience across these organizations!

🐾 A mission that matters. By making spay and neuter services more accessible, SNIP helps reduce pet overpopulation and supports healthier animals and communities.

Affordable care shouldn’t mean sacrificing quality. Our goal is to make essential veterinary services more accessible while giving pet owners more value for their money.

📍 Serving Contra Costa County and the East Bay, with SNIP teams across California.

One of the hardest days of my life but a new life adventure for Erica, the best Manager there is, Michael and their girls. They head out tomorrow to start their new lives in Kentucky. Today was Erica’s last day with us. It’s such a double edged sword I’m happy for them but sad for us. Erica was with us for just over 13 years and grew into her role as manager pretty quickly, she was my rock, my personal friend and one who could handle anything both in my absence or when we worked together. Michael worked off and on for us over the years as Manager of Oakley and our go to trainer. His training clients in and out of DDC will miss him dearly and so will I deeply.
Please help me in wishing the family the best of luck in their new life adventure that leads back to Erica’s roots. I will be sad, I will cry and I will miss them all so so much.

Just a friendly reminder to watch for these little things that become high risk. Thank you Dr Lori and team for posting the reminder.

🌾 Foxtail Warning for Pet Owners 🌾

Foxtails may look harmless, but these grass awns can be extremely dangerous for pets. Their barbed shape allows them to burrow into the body and continue migrating deeper into tissue, causing serious pain, infection, and even life-threatening complications.
Common places foxtails become embedded include:
🐾 Between the toes and paws
👂 Ears
👃 Nose
👁 Eyes
They can also become lodged in the gums or tonsils if your pet chews or eats them.

Signs to watch for:
• Swelling between the paws
• Sudden sneezing or nasal discharge, particularly if there’s blood
• Head shaking or ear sensitivity
• Squinting, redness, or eye discharge
• Swelling, pain, or sudden discomfort

If you suspect there is ANY possibility your pet has a foxtail stuck, please bring them in immediately. Early removal is critical and can prevent much more serious complications.
Please check your pets carefully after walks, hikes, or time spent in grassy areas, especially during foxtail season. 💜

If you go to Koda Dog Park FYI

May 15, 2026 Update: Koda Dog Park has reopened. Thank you for your patience.

Original: Koda Dog Park Temporary Closure Notice

Koda Dog Park will be temporarily closed for necessary sod renovations and overseeding starting on April 2, 2026, and is expected to reopen on May 14th (depending on weather and growing conditions). We know this is disappointing, especially during a time when many visitors enjoy the park, but this timing provides the best conditions for the work to succeed.

Moderate temperatures, adequate soil moisture, and enough time for the grass to establish before the hotter months will help ensure a healthier, more durable park surface for everyone in the long term. While we know park closures are inconvenient, this work is important to maintain a safe and enjoyable park for all visitors and we appreciate your patience.

We will provide an update if the reopening date changes.
