Veterinary colleagues did you know that there is a backlog of over 2000 foreign-trained veterinary graduates waiting to take the CPE (clinical proficiency examination)? The Clinical Proficiency Examination (CPE) is the final, fourth step of the AVMA Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification program. These candidates are waiting to get a job and practice as doctors because of the bottleneck/backlog of applicants. If you are concerned about the veterinary shortage - this is part of it - please read and consider signing this petition.

This would demand creation of an alternative pathway for foreign trained veterinarians to practice under direct supervision of a Wisconsin licensed veterinarian.

I did some reasearch and found out that I only need FIVE people to sign this and submit it as a petition to the VEB, and they have to respond per Wis. Stat. § 227.12 within a set period of time. Once the petition gets to them the clock starts ticking.

Let's do this Wisconsin! Other states are already doing it because they realize the benefit of having more veterinarians caring for animals and see it as one way to mitigate the veterinary shortage crisis

Many of you know that Dr. Sarah is mentoring doctor from Mexico city, Daniel Garcia, who will be taking his licensing exam in a few months; once Dr. Garcia is licensed he can start seeing his own patients. Yay!
We're also looking to expand our team going into the next few years so that we can provide more care for our patients, with the goal of having enough doctors and support staff coverage to be able to offer urgent care on the weekends.
If you have a family member or friend who is a veterinarian and looking for a new job, be sure to mention us!
We're a pretty fun group and work well together.
We don't offer the typical corporate $100,000 sign on bonus, but we do offer a robust compensation package, and Antigo (though small) is a pretty nice place to live....Lower cost of living than the big cities, lots of community events, a hospital, school system, and lots of green space for the outdoor-enthusiasts.
By the way, Dr. Sarah doesn't mind working weekends and the young doctors can have the weekends off, as long as you give her a day or two off during the week.....
