This Labor Day, we’re celebrating the four-legged coworkers who make every day a little brighter — whether they’re napping beside the laptop, walking across the keyboard, or demanding attention right when the email gets important.

Bay Water Safety Reminder for Dogs 🐾
Living near the Chesapeake Bay means many of our pets love being close to the water - but just like their owners, dogs need a little extra caution when it comes to swimming.

While certain bacteria, like Vibrio, may not commonly cause the same type of severe infections in dogs that we worry about in people, natural bodies of water can still carry bacteria that may irritate the skin, ears, eyes, or stomach - especially after rainfall.

A few reminders before letting your dog swim:
• Avoid swimming after heavy rain
• Check your county’s published bacteria counts or water quality advisories before heading out
• Do not let your dog drink Bay water
• Avoid swimming if your pet has cuts, scrapes, hot spots, irritated skin, or healing incisions
• Skip the water if it looks cloudy, scummy, or has dead fish nearby
• Bathe or thoroughly rinse your pet with clean water after swimming in the Bay

If your dog develops vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, ear irritation, skin redness, swelling, or a wound that looks worse after swimming, contact your vet.

We love seeing pets enjoy life by the Bay - we just want them doing it safely.
