Did you know that by age 3, most dogs and cats already show signs of dental disease?

And here is the part most people do not realize: dental bacteria can travel to the heart, kidneys, and liver, causing serious damage over time.

The good news is that it is largely preventable. Here is where to start:

1. Call us about a dental cleaning if it has been more than a year or your pet hasn't had one yet. Cleanings remove what brushing cannot reach.
2. Brush at home 2 to 3 times a week with a soft bristled toothbrush.
3. Dental chews and water additives can help between brushings. Call us and we'll give you our recommendations.
4. Watch for bad breath, yellow teeth, or reluctance to chew. Those are your early warning signs.
