CVNI is excited to welcome Dr. Miranda McBride, our 2026-2027 neurology & neurosurgery intern! Dr. Mcbride is originally from Fairfax, Virginia and is happy to be back in the DMV. She graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2025 and went on to complete a year-long small animal rotating internship at Nashville Veterinary Specialists immediately prior to joining us at CVNI. Outside of vet med, she loves live music and trying new restaurants. We’re thrilled to have her on the CVNI team!

Join us in congratulating Sydney on passing her VTNE! What is a VTNE you might ask? It is the Veterinary National Technician Exam. It evaluates veterinary technician competency. Once passed, you become a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)! That is the veterinary equivalent of a human RN. Congrats Sydney, RVT. We are lucky to have you on our team.

Meet Bella! 💚🐾

Bella visited Compass Veterinary Neurology and Imaging in 2023 due to mentation changes, a head tilt, and ataxia (clumsy movements).

She had an MRI and spinal tap that showed significant inflammation of her brain and the tissues that surround it, a condition known as meningoencephalitis. Infectious disease testing was negative, and she was ultimately diagnosed with Meningoencephalitis of Unknown Etiology (MUE).

Bella was in critical condition, but after 5 days of hospitalization and intensive care, she was able to be discharged. Bella’s medications have been slowly tapered and adjusted, but she has officially graduated from CVNI!

We are so happy for Bella and her family! 🎉🐾

Meet Sandy! 🐾💚

Sandy visited Compass Veterinary Neurology and Imaging in May of this year for being unable to walk.

Sandy’s MRI revealed that she had disc herniations at both T13-L1 and L5-6. She had a two site hemilaminectomy immediately following her MRI to decompress her spinal cord.

After surgery, Sandy went to our Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner, Nikki, who completed many sessions of physical therapy.

Sandy has officially graduated 🎉. Although we will miss seeing her, we are happy she has gained the strength to no longer need us! 💚🐾
