🐾 Helping Your Anxious Pup Through a Thunderstorm ⛈️💛

Thunderstorms can be really scary for some dogs—especially when they’re home alone. A few simple, natural things can help them feel safer and more secure:

🐶 Create a cozy “safe place” in an interior room, closet, bathroom, or favorite crate with their bed and blankets.

🎶 Leave soft music, calming sounds, or the TV on to help mask the thunder.

🪟 Close blinds and curtains before you leave to reduce flashes of lightning and outside stimulation.

👕 Leave something nearby that smells like you, such as a worn T-shirt. Your familiar scent can be comforting when you’re not there.

🧸 Give them a favorite toy or safe enrichment activity to help keep them occupied and redirect some of that nervous energy.

🏡 Most importantly, let them choose where they feel safest. Some dogs want to burrow under blankets, hide in a closet, or curl up in their crate—and that’s okay.

They may not understand the storm, but we can make sure their little safe space feels as comforting and secure as possible until we’re home again. ❤️🐾

So tomorrow Monday I thought we just have an unplanned “clients appreciation day” no particular reason except I really enjoy giving out treats to our patients when they come in.
