Meet the Magnolia Treat Dispenser.

What first drew me to the magnolia seed pod was its texture: overlapping, petal-like shapes layered around a little pod. There’s so much there for a dog to explore with their mouth, and I wanted to bring that quality into a toy.

That became the Magnolia Treat Dispenser. Textured petals for mouthing and chewing, a hollow center for treats and kibble, and an irregular shape that sends each bounce in an unexpected direction.

Like everything we make, it starts with something found in nature and curiosity about what a dog might do with it.

FIELD STUDY 01: Why a pinecone?

Loblola started on an October camping trip in 2017, watching Lola pick up pinecones from the forest floor and carry them around like she had discovered something important.

There was no activity set up for her. No puzzle to solve. She had simply found an object worth investigating.

That became the starting point for the Loblolly Pinecone.

We kept what made the real thing interesting: the texture, the irregular form, the spaces between the scales. Then we turned those scales into places to tuck food and made the center fillable, giving dogs different ways to lick, chew, paw and work at it.

We didn’t start by asking how to make a better dog toy. We started with something dogs were already interested in.

A black Milkcap has appeared.

A limited seasonal color of our mushroom-shaped slow feeder, made for licking, nosing, carrying, and whatever else your dog decides to do with it. It has the same food-safe, freezer-friendly design as the original Milkcap, only now in black.
