No doubt about it, Sully is a very handsome little guy! Yesterday was his first time visiting our salon so, understandably, he was a bit nervous. Dachshunds are one of my favorite breeds of dogs! I've had four so far and one of them lived to be 21 years old! Did you know the name "Dachshund" literally means "badger dog" in German? These fearless little dogs were originally bred to hunt badgers by following them into underground tunnels. Their long bodies and short legs weren't just adorable—they were designed to help them dig and maneuver through tight burrows!
Here are a few more fun facts:
🐾 Dachshunds come in three coat types: smooth, long-haired, and wire-haired.
👃 They have an excellent sense of smell and rank among the top scent hounds.
💪 They may be small, but they have big personalities and are known for being brave, determined, and surprisingly stubborn.
❤️ Because of their long backs, it's important to help keep them at a healthy weight and avoid excessive jumping to reduce the risk of back injuries.
Do you have a Dachshund? We'd love to see your little hot dog! 🌭🐶 Share a photo in the comments!

Jammer is one of the most laid back, chill dogs I've ever had the pleasure of grooming! She's a Newfoundland (Newfindland/Newfie) and she's absolutely beautiful! Interesting facts about Newfoundlands:

Did you know that Newfoundland dogs have partially webbed feet? Those big paws make them incredible swimmers! They were originally bred to help fishermen by pulling in fishing nets and even rescuing people from the water. Their thick, water-resistant coat and powerful build make them natural lifeguards.
It's no surprise these gentle giants are often called the "gentle giants" of the dog world—they're known for being patient, loyal, and wonderful with children.
💙 Have you ever met a Newfoundland? Share a picture of your "Newfie" in the comments! 🐶

Jammer understood the assignment: Relax. 🛁💙
Bath time is definitely Jammer's happy place! She was so relaxed she almost fell asleep in the tub. 😴
Now, when a girl her size decides it's time for a little splish splash... let's just say everyone nearby gets an unexpected bath too! 💦😂
She may have soaked the whole grooming room, but those sweet, sleepy eyes made every splash worth it. Thanks for making my day, Jammer! 🐾💕

🐾 Let's Talk Grooming Etiquette: Why It's Important to Wait for the "Ready" Call 🐾
I know how much you love your pup (trust me, I do too!), and it's completely normal to wonder how they're doing during their grooming appointment. But one of the best things you can do for your dog is wait until your groomer calls 📞 to let you know they're ready for pickup.

Here's why:

🐶 It keeps your dog calm. Many dogs become extra excited or anxious the moment they see or hear their owner. Once they know you're there, it's much harder to safely finish the groom. Sometimes they get so excited that even after you leave again we can't get them to calm down and can't finish the groom. ✂️

✂️ Safety comes first. Grooming involves very sharp tools. A wiggly, excited dog can accidentally get nicked if they suddenly jump, spin, or try to get to you. It would absolutely break my heart if your dog got so excited to see you that they ended up getting injured.

🛁 It helps us finish efficiently. When dogs become distracted waiting for their owners, it can add extra time to the grooming process instead of speeding it up. Or it makes it impossible to finish the groom.

❤️ It creates a better experience. Staying focused and relaxed helps your dog have a more positive grooming visit, making future appointments less stressful.

I'm going to share a little story about the time I was grooming Max, a benadoodle and his dad came in to see if he was ready instead of waiting for my call. This was the first and last time Max's dad did that because Max got so excited when he saw his dad that he jumped off the table with the grooming loop still attached causing the table to tip over and the corner of the metal grooming arm landed on his foot and cut him pretty badly. It happened so fast there was nothing I could do. We never expected Max to do that because he's always so calm and quiet. That was probably about a year ago and I still feel terrible about it.

As groomers, we promise we'll call as soon as your furry friend is finished and ready to go home. Until then, the best thing you can do is let us work our magic!

Thank you for trusting us with your best friend and helping us keep every grooming appointment safe, smooth, and stress-free. 🐾💕
