The City of Ankeny informed us this morning, April 29, 2026, that they will be replacing the water main in our area Saturday May 2, 2026. Due to this water main replacement and the interruption of water services, we will need to be closed on Saturday May 2, 2026.

We apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause. Please plan accordingly for picking up medications and food.

We appreciate your understanding as the necessary improvements are made to our town.
We will resume regular business hours Monday May 4th.

Ankeny Animal Health Clinic has an immediate opening for a full time veterinary technician. We are currently looking for an energetic and experienced veterinary technician or skills equivalent to expand our small animal team. Preferred applicants will be efficient with animal restraint, blood draws, IV catheter placement, running routine lab work, radiology and surgical procedures, etc.

This is a full-time position with a 4 day work week, competitive pay, paid time off, and 401K.

Required Qualifications:
Experience as a veterinary technician - certified or skills equivalent
Excellent Communication Skills
Positive and Motivated Mindset
Ability to work with both dogs and cats. Large or small.
Reliable

Daily Responsibilities:
Assisting in animal restraint that allows for minimal stress to our patients while ensuring the safety of our patients, owners, and employees
Exam Preparation including; rooming patients, taking accurate notes from clients about patient needs, drawing up vaccinations, and running routine lab work
Assisting in technician appointments, radiology and in hospital patient care
Blood draws and IV catheter placement
Running in-house lab work including; chemistries, urinalysis and cytology
Filling medications
Client Education and Communication
Maintaining clean exam rooms, common client areas, and lab work areas

Salary: From $13.50 per hour

Ankeny Animal Health Clinic is looking for an experienced veterinary receptionist to expand our team. You will be supported by a group of highly trained professionals whose common goal is to give our clients the best experience possible. This position is a full-time position with a 4 day work week and the occasional Saturday. We offer competitive pay, paid time off, and 401K. Start date no later than September 6th, 2022.

Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Experience with veterinary reception preferably within a fileless small animal clinic
Excellent communication skills & phone etiquette
Ability to multitask & prioritize in a fast paced environment
Ability to type and operate basic computer programs/equipment
Ability to lift 30 lbs

Daily Responsibilities
Greeting clients
Check patients in/out from appointments, boarding & surgeries
Answering multi-line phone and returning emails
Scheduling appointments and surgeries
Making follow-up and reminder calls
Accurate data input
Receive & record patient medical records
Client communications regarding veterinary products such as prescription foods, medications, doctor’s instructions, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives
Variety of other office duties including maintaining a clean work environment and reception area

Clinic Hours
Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm
Saturdays 8:00am-Noon
