🎃🐾 BARKTOBER FEST IS ONE MONTH AWAY! 🐾🎃

And we’re kicking off our Sponsor Spotlight by saying a HUGE thank you to the local businesses and organizations who have already stepped up to support this year’s event! ❤️

Their sponsorships are helping us put together a fun-filled day for our community while raising money for the animals at the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County.

🐾 A COMMUNITY MEMBER JUST THREW DOWN A $1,000 CHALLENGE! 🐾

We have some VERY exciting news… an anonymous community member has offered to MATCH EVERY DONATION, DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR, UP TO $1,000! 😭❤️

That means your $10 donation becomes $20.
Your $25 becomes $50.
Your $50 becomes $100.

And if our community comes together, we can turn $1,000 into $2,000 for the animals at the Community Humane Shelter! 🐶🐱

Every dollar helps provide food, medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, shelter, and everything else our animals need while they wait for their forever homes.

🎂 Sometimes you just want to close down the office and eat cake… which is exactly what we’ll be doing! 🐾

This Saturday, September 5th, the Community Humane Shelter will be closed from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM while our staff takes a much-needed lunch break to celebrate our Shelter Manager, Faith, and her birthday! 🎉🥳

After everything our team has been dealing with lately, we figured they’ve more than earned an hour to step away, relax, eat some good food, and celebrate one of their own. ❤️

We’ll be heading to Jed’s, where the patio is dog-friendly, so of course we couldn’t leave the adoptable dogs out of the fun! One lucky pup will be joining us for lunch and maybe doing a little birthday networking of their own. 🐶💕

Please plan accordingly if you need to visit us that day. We’ll be back open at 1:00 PM and ready to get back to the important stuff: taking care of our animals and finding them their forever homes.

Happy early birthday, Faith! We hope your lunch comes with extra cake and zero shelter emergencies. 😂🎂❤️

🐾 GOOD FOOD + GOOD DOGS + A CHANCE TO FIND YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND! 🐾

Join us at Lakeland Nursing Home in Angola on Tuesday, September 8th from 4–6 PM for a special adoption event! ❤️

Lakeland is welcoming us (and our adoptable animals!) for an evening of FREE FOOD, furry friends, and hopefully a few forever matches. 🐶🐱

Come meet some of the animals currently looking for their forever homes, ask questions, and see if your next best friend is waiting for you! 🏡🐾

Interested in adopting? We encourage you to fill out an adoption application online before the event to help make the process go as smoothly as possible.

Tonight, we had the incredible honor of accepting a $19,637 donation from the Crooked Lake Sandbar Music Festival!

We are beyond grateful to everyone who helped make this possible- the organizers, sponsors, musicians, volunteers, attendees, and every single person who came out to support the event.

This kind of generosity makes a HUGE difference for the animals in our care. It helps us provide food, medical care, shelter, and everything these animals need while they wait for their forever homes.

On September 11th from 1–5 PM, What The Fluff Mobile Dog Grooming will be at the shelter offering grooming appointments, and a portion of every groom will be donated to the shelter! 🐾

🐶 Meet Jojo!
📍Located in Angola

“Hello I am looking to surrender or adopt out my 1-year-old Staffordshire terrier. His name is Jo Jo. He is not fixed. He is good with other dogs and children. Unsure about with cats. Although he is very hyper and needs space to run off his energy. I have only had him a couple of months, as I got him from my neighbor to save him from going to the shelter. I don't believe he has had any shots beyond his first nor ever been to the vet. I am about to be homeless starting Saturday and living in my car and won't be able to afford to take care of him let alone myself. As much as it saddens me to be asking this, I am hoping someone would like to adopt him or at least foster him until he finds his forever home. He is a sweet little cutie and would make someone a great companion.”

We’re getting closer to Barktober Fest, and we need some amazing volunteers to help make the day a success! ❤️

We have several volunteer spots available, and we’d love to see our shelter supporters, friends, families, and community members jump in and be part of the fun!
