Andalusia Animal Shelter We are diligent in finding GOOD homes for all the pets that are adoptable.

We take in strays, owner turnovers, sick/injured (within reason as we are not a vets office), feral, fractious & the most loving pets from all of Covington County.

09/09/26 Breezie come into the shelter half matted and half a hacked up shave job. Well after a few good baths TODAY IS THE DAY.......... BREEZIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! She is going to love her new life with her brand new tiny humans to play with and lay around. Congratulations Breezie girl its only good things from here.

There seems to be some miscommunication when it comes to strays coming in to the shelter.
** Here is the process per Alabama state law **
When any animal is brought in either by animal control or by the public it is scanned for a microchip. if a chip number is found we contact who the animal was chipped through to get owner information. If no chip is found, we reach out to surrounding vets (Andalusia and Opp) to see if they recognize the animal or if the animal is a client. If no information can be found, we then hold the animal for 7 days. In those 7 days the owner has time to claim their animal (pictures will be posted online). Our main goal is to reunite pets with their owners. If no owner is found within those seven days the animal is then either put up for adoption or sent out to a recue or other options are considered. please know we always want animals to go home but sometimes that isn't always the case.
