I think these pictures speak volumes on their own. This has been an interesting case for me and I’m very happy to say I’ve learned a lot. The biggest obstacle in getting this horse sound and ready to work again, was battling Alaska elements, It’s hard to glue in negative temperatures!

I love seeing improvement and I’m so glad I remembered to take photos this time!
The photo with the yellow highlighter is before, that yellow line shows the angle of the central sulcus of the frog leaning, instead of growing straight. The red line shows the angle of the bulbs, which should also be straight.
In the second photo with no yellow line, the after photo, you can see how much straighter that the frog is and how close our heel bulbs are to being level. Great progress!!

Just a warning these pics are a little graphic but really interesting! This horse kicked a T post and just about ripped the lateral bulb off. There was surprisingly low signs of lameness. Limping a little but still getting around fine.
The owner was great and got right on it administering penicillin ,wrapping and dressing the foot properly and calling the farrier.
The treatment was a z bar for frog support and weight off the affected heel. Then the lace job to hold everything together while the body does its thing. The less movement of those the separated pieces will greatly improve the healing process.

Summer schedules are hectic but I’m willing to be flexible, weekends, late evenings or early mornings call and schedule today 😁
