Update on Libby ( Melsh's Precious Little Miss Liberty) * Her Birthday is July 3rd ...Between Canada Day, July 1st, and American Independence Day, July 4th.
She went to the vet this past Monday. Through ultrasound we found she had either lost her litter or did not get pregnant. She had a very serious infection. She was put on two antibiotics. A follow-up vet appointment scheduled. Thankfully we are 5 minutes from our veterinarian's office. If i noticed her getting worse, I was to come back immediately. Monday and Tuesday were her worse days. Wednesday i started to see improvement. Each day she is improving. She is not 100 percent yet....but goodness it is so wonderful to see her running fast for the door, tail just a wagging. Her appetite is coming back very slowly. She will voluntarily eat a bite or two of her regular food. I feed her a slurry numerous times a day made from Hills prescription diet a/d urgent care. Mom does not give her a choice on eating that, the hills diet is a must.. Her other food, she can eat it or not. Her antibiotics....she is a stinker. I received a lot of suggestions on how to get her to take her pills. I bought, the suggestions. She responded two different ways. A complete refusal to eat what most dogs would find yummy OR she would eat or suck the food off the pill and spit the pill at me. The antibiotics literally mean life or death so I just put the pills down her throat. It may sound mean ...but...she has to have them. Some suggested peanut butter...that one i did not try. I am allergic to peanuts.....it would not be wise for me to be messing around with peanut butter.
Libby will see the vet on Thursday , sooner if i see signs she is getting worse. At this point...all I am seeing is her continuing to get better.
