🚨 SHE WAS GOING TO RUN HER OVER. 🚨
We received an urgent email asking for help with a mama cat who had given birth to four kittens on a property. A neighbor was threatening to kill them, and we knew time was not on our side.
We didn’t have a foster lined up. We didn’t have space. But when an animal’s life is in immediate danger, sometimes you figure out the rest later.
This morning, when they told the neighbor what time we were coming to rescue the family, Mama was underneath her car — and she was prepared to run her over. Someone had to physically pick Mama up and hold onto her until we arrived.
Thankfully, Mama and all four of her babies are SAFE. ❤️
But now we desperately need a FOSTER HOME where this sweet girl can safely raise her babies until they are old enough for adoption.
And here is the frustrating part: this entire situation was preventable.
There ARE humane and effective ways to manage community cat populations. TNR — Trap, Neuter, Return — saves lives and stops the cycle of reproduction. Killing, harming, poisoning, or intentionally starving animals is not population control. Animal cruelty is also against the law.
And this mama? She was almost certainly someone’s pet at some point. She is friendly, sweet and comfortable with people. Somewhere along the way, she was failed by humans and left outside unspayed to have litter after litter.
