So I did a thing this weekendā€¦ I GOT MARRIED! šŸ–¤šŸ¤ 10.10.26 FOREVER. Still Reckless, just married. And of course, my BaBeeZ were a huge part of it all. šŸˆā€ā¬›šŸ‡

Monday was WILD. The things we do for gatosā€¦

Worked all day, then hit the road: Gardena ā†’ Long Beach ā†’ South Central ā†’ Fullerton ā†’ Anaheim ā†’ back to LB. Dang.

But honestly, Iā€™m so grateful we were able to help this little family, especially mama and that ulcer. No more survival mode for her.

And getting to match our orphaned BaBee with a family of his own was everything. He was robbed of that, and he truly needed it. Having a mama + siblings close to his age to grow up with has made such a difference. Now heā€™s happy, thriving + gaining weight thanks to mamaā€™s milk, love, and his new little crew.

Exhausted + miles deep, but Iā€™d do it all over again for da BaBeeZ, always.

Finally made it to Sunshine Rabbit Centerā€¦ WTF did it take me so long?!

Anyways, as a proud mama to a Reckless BaBee bun, I was SO excited to finally see this place in person. We need more places like this riding for the BunneeZ because honestly, I feel like rabbits deserve way more spotlight. They are amazing and super smart creatures and in a lot of ways, similar to Gatos. And what people donā€™t realize is that Bunneez are actually the MOST RECKLESS of all the BaBeeZ!

Theyā€™ve got pretty much every bunny essential you could ever need, collabs with local artists + merch, meet & greets, and most importantly, they pull their BunZ from shelters all across Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

A whole space dedicated to helping, celebrating, and advocating for the BunneeZ.

Reckless BaBeeZ approved.

And then we met Tiffany.

She checked us all in and took us on a full tour of the entire facility. Along the way, she dropped MAJOR medical knowledge and somehow knew the name of EVERY. SINGLE. KITTY. Tiffany is the Medical Supervisor and a Certified Veterinary Technician, and you could immediately tell this woman knows her stuff and genuinely cares about these cats.

And as she showed us around, we started to see just how incredible this place really is.

A whole sanctuary built around giving cats the care and space they need.

Huge shoutout to for helping connect Long Beach Felines with Hermitage and getting the conversation started. This whole thing wouldnā€™t have happened without that connection.

Why The Hermitage was such a perfect landing spot:

Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter & Sanctuary was started by Sister Theresa Seraphim, a Russian Orthodox nun who spent her life rescuing animals. And when I say animals, I mean EVERYTHINGā€¦ cats, chickens, peacocks, dogs, even a donkey.
Today, The Hermitage is Arizonaā€™s only accredited cat sanctuary. Itā€™s a completely cage-free 9,000-square-foot sanctuary with 300+ cats, and they rescue around 700 cats a year.

And for us, the biggest thing was seeing firsthand just how much experience and resources they have to care for cats like ours with FeLV, as well as cats with FIV, FIP, diabetes, allergies, and all kinds of conditions. Theyā€™re fully equipped to take on a LOT, and you can see it in the way this place operates.

This story started back in November 2025.

Long Beach Felines experienced a FeLV outbreak. 14 kitties became infected. 5 passed away. 3 remain in foster care. The 6 we transported Sunday had been living together since then in an isolated room with access to an enclosed catio setup through the windows. They were safe. They were cared for. They were loved on.

But we wanted more for them. We wanted them to have the opportunity to live out whatever time they have left with more space, enrichment, and other FeLV+ cats around them. So for months, we worked on finding that place. And then Thursday happenedā€¦9.10.26. A fellow rescuer connected LBF with Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter & Sanctuary in Tucson, Arizona, and somehow, the stars aligned. They had space for all six of our FeLV BaBeeZ!

WE. WERE. GOING. TO. ARIZONA. Rental van secured Saturday. Sunday morning we loaded up with supplies, snacks, one oversized cat-jungle-gym-turnt-cat kennel, and 6 very special pieces of cargo.

Left Long Beach at 3:33 am pulled up to The Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter and Sanctuary at 10:42 am.

This is rescue.

Long Beach Felines latest rescues. Two mama kitties. Eight kittens.

The story behind this rescue:

One day a good dude spotted a tuxedo and tortoiseshell mama wandering pregnant around his Long Beach work site. He was told they had been abandoned when their owners moved.
The next day he saw that the tuxedo mama had given birth and wedged herself and her BaBeeZ between discarded cardboard boxes. He didnā€™t think twice, he brought them home, ALL of them. A week later, the second mama gave birth safely in his apartment.

This person had no rescue backup. He just saw animals who needed help and MADE ROOM.

After 5 exhausting weeks of searching, setbacks, and disappointments, he finally found his way into the DMs of Long Beach Felines.Thankfully, they were able to step in and support him while he fosters this entire little family.

This is community rescue. 'Cause saving animals isnā€™t just about rescuing them. Itā€™s about supporting the people who are already trying to save them.
