What else would we be doing on a holiday weekend? 😂
Apparently, while normal people are relaxing, Furl 2 Furever is engaged in a battle of wills with one very skinny, very determined little feral kitten.
This little girl had been hanging around under a car, and this morning the rescue mission officially began.
Adrienne was on scene.
Alex was knee-deep in the operation via video chat.
Food was deployed.
Plans were made.
And our tiny suspect?
She casually walked up, ate the food we so graciously provided… and then basically said, “Thanks for breakfast. You may leave now.”
No luck. 😂
But if you know Adrienne, you know she wasn't done.
She went back tonight.
What followed included crawling through the grass, looking under cars, getting down on hands and knees, repositioning traps, losing any remaining concern for dignity, and one tiny kitten who continued to believe she was considerably smarter than the humans attempting to rescue her.
For a while, she may have been right. 🤣
At one point, the whole thing had very strong “Why have I chosen this life?” energy.
But then…
SHE GOT HER. 🧡
Our little fugitive is now safely inside. Her cage is set up, she's warm, she's eating, and tonight she doesn't have to sleep underneath a car.
And now that we've gotten a closer look at her, we've discovered something else: this little girl has the cutest marking right on her forehead that looks remarkably like a Harry Potter lightning-bolt scar. ⚡
Which brings us to our next problem…
She needs a name.
So we're turning this one over to you.
Take a good look at our newest little Furl 2 Furever friend and tell us in the comments:
What would YOU name her?
This is rescue in real time. It isn't always pretty. Sometimes it's hours on a video call. Sometimes it's lying in somebody's grass. Sometimes the cat eats your bait and walks away while you question every decision you've ever made.
And sometimes, at the end of a very long day, the little life you were worried about is finally safe.
That's the magic. 🧡
