LAWN MOWING WILL TAKE PLACE THURSDAY MAY, 28th
Around Sun-Up
It was simply too darn wet to get much mowing done today. We tried!

Dogs may use the park during that time if your dog is not upset by the mower and if they won’t chase the mower. You may be asked to leash your dog as we move the mower thru the gates from side to side.

The Paw Park is very wet after the rain this weekend. We tried to miow this morning, but it was futile. Grass jamming up the mower and the mower getting stuck. Well try again in a few dry days!

Peter Warn is the original architect of The Paw Park.

Pete was working on getting The Amherst State Park on Mill in the Village, named a State Park. He met Patrick, a young medical student running his 3 Border Collies off-leash through the park. Pete was unhappy that the dogs were off-leash; but the young man explained that he lived in an apartment in the Village and had nowhere to exercise his energetic dogs. Dogs are not allowed to be off-leash in State Parks. A 6' leash is the usual rule. This meeting was the impetus to begin a discussion about building an "off-leash recreation area" solely for dogs in Amherst.

It took several years of meetings with the Town of Amherst, public meetings to speak to the stakeholders and hundreds of signatures of Amherst residents in favor of a dog-centric park.

Pete has been a community volunteer for decades. He has also volunteered at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in Basom NY.
Congratulations Pete! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Bj6HmFRvM/
