Meet Jessica St. Peter, the Lesson Program Manager of our Riding School!

What got you into riding and when did you start?
My mom had always wanted to ride and never could, so she had me start lessons in kindergarten and then I just never stopped!

What do you love about teaching?
I love teaching because everyday I have the opportunity to watch my riders grow in both their confidence and horsemanship. It is important to me to create a supportive environment where riders feel encouraged, valued, and excited to continue learning and have fun along the way! I especially love the ‘aha!’ moments, those moments make teaching extremely rewarding!

We know they’re all special, but who is your favorite Dove Hill horse or pony and why?
A tough decision but I will have to go Koko. She is our walk trot super star! She is my favorite because she is many riders firsts. First time ever on a horse, first trot, first time riding independently. She is the one that allows them to fall in love with the animal and the sport at the same time, starting their riding career!

What do you love about Dove Hill?
Dove Hill allows me to combine my passion for horses with my passion for teaching. It’s not everyday you can say, you love what you do for work and I am proud that I get to be one of those people. Dove Hill also has an amazing herd of lesson horses, each one can teach a rider something different and aids in creating a wonderful learning environment.

What’s your favorite candy?
Junior mints!

“Jimmy” is a 2013 Oldenburg Gelding ready for his next junior or adult rider. His big personality is a favorite in the barn while his comfortable gaits and expressive jump make him equally favorable under saddle.
Most recently he has been competing in the 2’6 with a junior as well as the 3’ equitation. While he’s more of an equitation type, he is competitive in all 3 rings.
He has a great lead change and he’s simple to prep for the shows.
He will be available to be tried on Sunday at MHC Finals.
Currently available for L only in the low-mid fives.

HIRING: AM, PM, and Weekend Help

Dove Hill’s Amesbury location is seeking assistance for turnout and feeding. The Amesbury location has just 8 horses, all of which are kind, easy going retired or school horses.
This is a great opportunity for a high school student or someone looking to make a little extra with very flexible hours. Chores in total typically don’t take more than an hour, but if you would like additional hours that can be discussed.

The team closed out summer with stellar rides at Fieldstone Summer Showcase and MHJ Finals.

⭐️ Maren Radford and Kabul Ter Doorn Z had a great week, culminating in a 13th place finish in the MHJ Junior Medal with a score of 81.

⭐️ Hannah Radford and Radja Van De Rostal had beautiful rides all week ending with Hannah completing her first 3’ final with a successful ride.

⭐️ Keira Bailey and Come Monday had excellent trips all week with great placings in the Children’s Equitation out of a huge group. Keira also finished 13th in the MHJ Mini Medal.

⭐️ Leah Munoz and Fanfare CBF joined us towards the end of the week, knocking it out of the park in the MHJ Adult Medal with a first round score of 87 and later finishing in the 4th spot.

The team had a great outing to Head of The Bay last week. 🌊
Winning combination, Lucy Smith and Koronado SB, qualified for the MHC Junior Medal as well as took 🥈 in the New England Junior Medal.

We had a great first away show of the season at FSP Spring 1 ✨

🫎 Alce Che Salta and Zoie Fox had nice trips in the 3’ Equitation, earning points towards finals.

👑 Material Girl and April Bilodeau took 🥈in the USHJA 2’3 Under Saddle after good trips in the over fences.
“Mabel” is available for sale for the 2’6 rider looking for a sweet mare that is up for all three rings!

🐻 Kabul Ter Doorn Z and Maren Radford had a great first outing together, ribboning in every class including a 4th place finish in their jumper classic!

The team had a great day at Evenstride on Sunday!

🌟 Zoie Fox and Come Monday had great trips in the Junior medals, including a 🥇 in the New England Medal, qualifying her for the finals in October.
🌟 Maren Radford rode Material Girl in the Special Child/Adult Hunters, earning 🥈 in a big under saddle.
🌟 Ellie Barnhart and Kostini had a great first outing together, placing 🥈 in the NH Modified Children’s Medal.
🌟 Keira Bailey and Come Monday had a great day, taking Champion in the Special Child/Adult Hunters.
🌟 Grace Cotter and Nino made their horse show debut with lovely trips in the Special Child/Adult Hunters.
🌟 Kate Cotter also rode Nino in the adult medals, taking the 🥇 in the NH Modified Adult Medal, qualifying her for the finals in September.

Thank you to Lilly Bryan, Zoie Fox, Annika Bezio, and Hannah Radford for all your help throughout the day, our team of riders and parents who came out to support us, and to Olana and the Evenstride team for running such a well run show!
