Another good day duck hunting up in Wisconsin with SHARP SHOOTERS HANS FLYIN SOLO NA-I UT-I “Hans.” He did an excellent job today, making some solid retrieves and looking good doing it. He’s pretty easy on the eyes to boot!

A great Wisconsin duck hunt made even better by sharing it with Mason on his first duck hunt. The ducks cooperated nicely, and needless to say, he’s hooked.

SHARP SHOOTERS ONLY THE WORTHY NA-I UT-I “Hilde” put in an excellent day of work, making one great retrieve after another. Watching her work and seeing Mason discover a new passion made this a hunt to remember.

What an incredible first day hunting birds in Montana.

I started the morning in the sagebrush with Hans and was fortunate enough to double over him twice—two sage grouse and two sharptails. Watching him work that big Montana country and being able to reward his work made for a hell of a way to start the trip.

Later, we traded the sagebrush for different country and found Hungarian partridge. Hilde locked up on point with Asta backing her, and I was able to put a Hun in the bag over them.

Sage grouse. Sharptail grouse. Hungarian partridge. Three species in one day, over three dogs that mean a lot to me.

Days like this are exactly why we put in all the miles, training, and work throughout the year. Pretty damn magical.

A good morning on the Mississippi River with LONG LAKES ASTA LA VISTA BABY “Asta.”

We watched the sun come up over the river, and Asta got plenty of work in with several retrieves. She handled the current just fine and looked right at home doing it.

This morning was one of those sessions that reminds you why you put in the time.

It was Asta’s very first trip to the field, and she made a pretty good first impression. Her bird introduction couldn’t have gone much better, and we’re really starting to fall in love with this little female. The fact that she’s an absolute looker certainly doesn’t hurt, either.

Wick checked off a big milestone of his own. Today was his very first gun introduction, and he progressed so well throughout the session that we were able to finish by shooting a quail over him. He took it all in stride, and we’re looking forward to building on that foundation.

A good first step for Asta today—her first water retrieve.

She didn’t hesitate, made the retrieve, and came straight back. A simple introduction, but a fun one to watch. Looking forward to building on it.

There isn’t another place on Earth where we could live this life the way we do.

Early mornings behind a bird dog. Public lands and wide-open prairies. Family traditions passed from one generation to the next. The freedom to own dogs, train them, hunt with them, and share our passion with others.

None of it exists by accident.

As America celebrates its 250th birthday today, we’re reminded that the freedoms we enjoy outdoors—and in every part of our lives—were secured through the courage and sacrifice of those who came before us. Their willingness to defend liberty gave us the opportunity to build the lives we love and create traditions worth passing on.

At Prairie Fire Kennels, we’re grateful to play a small part in one of those traditions. Every puppy we raise represents more than a hunting companion. We hope they’re the start of lifelong memories, sunrise walks, campfire stories, first birds, and unforgettable days afield with family and friends.

Today, we celebrate the greatest nation in the world. We honor the men and women who have worn our country’s uniform and everyone who continues to protect the freedoms we often take for granted.

From our family to yours, thank you for being part of the Prairie Fire Kennels family.

Another first for PRAIRIE FIRES UPLAND BOOGEYMAN “Wick” today.

At just 9 weeks old, Wick was introduced to water for the first time and never missed a beat. He hit the water without hesitation and completed his first retrieve like he’d been doing it for years.

It’s been fun watching the natural ability and confidence this young dog continues to show. We’re excited to see what comes next.

First bird introduction for PRAIRIE FIRE'S UPLAND BOOGEYMAN “Wick” today.

Our 9-week-old male from the Hans x Hilde breeding showed plenty of natural bird drive and even flashed a pointing style that looks a lot like his sire.

A good start for this young prospect.
