Dr. Amanda Steffen is the owner of SVS Chiropractic Care. Dr. Steffen graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 and graduated with her Master's in Public Health degree from the University of Iowa in 2012. Dr. Steffen had always been interested in pursuing chiropractic training and in February 2022 Dr. Steffen completed a rigorous training course at Options for Ani

mals College of Animal Chiropractic. Dr. Steffen also passed the IVCA exam and is therefore certified in animal chiropractic through the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association. Dr. Steffen offers chiropractic services to both large and small animals throughout the state of Iowa.

UPDATE:

Small Animal Appointments: I am now able to take appointments starting the first week of September. I will also be at the Amana Colonies Cluster Dog Shows this Thurs - Mon (8/27 - 8/31). Please reach out if you would like to set up an appointment. I am still moving pretty slow so appointments may take a little longer than normal.

Equine Appointments: Unfortunately appointments are still on hold until at least the end of October as I have not yet been cleared by my surgeon. For those wondering why so long - due to the severity of the injury and after speaking with my surgeon and PT the risk of re-injury due to climbing up and down on the bale as well as having to jump off the bale are too high at this time. I am doing everything in my power to get back to normal as soon as possible (PT is currently 2x a week) but I do not want to risk another injury to the area that would set me back even further. Thank you for your understanding.

UPDATE: Hey everyone! I had my 6 week post-op recheck today and have a better idea of how the next few weeks/months are going to look. Everything healing wise is looking good however, with the severity of the injury, it is still going to take some time to get back to normal. I will be going to physical therapy and will not be able to be fully weight bearing nor driving for an additional 3 weeks. Around that time frame I am planning/hoping to start seeing small animal appointments. Unfortunately the horse appointments are still on hold. Due to needing to stand on the bale to work, I have not been cleared to work on horses until at least after my next 6 week recheck. I will continue to keep everyone updated. If you are interested in setting up a small animal appointment for a couple weeks from now please let me know and I will start to work on a schedule. Please reach out if you have any questions. On the plus side I have had lots of time to work on my acupuncture training and I can’t wait to add this service in the near future. Thanks!!

UPDATE: Hey everyone - I just wanted to check in and give you all an update on how things are going. I had my surgery recheck 2 weeks ago and everything was looking good. My next recheck is in 2 weeks and at that time I will have a much better idea of when I should be able to start seeing appointments again. I want to sincerely thank all of you for being so understanding during this time and I greatly appreciate all of the well wishes, visits, cards, and gifts. I truly have the best clients and I can’t wait to see you all 💕

UPDATE: Yesterday I underwent surgery and everything went well. I will be non-weight bearing for 9 weeks but will have a better idea of how things are healing at my recheck in a couple of weeks.
