AVMA Convention was a blast! Our very own SAVMA ChPR, John Wofford, did an incredible job organizing and leading the Chapter Presidents’ Meetings, where our SAVMA President, Cord Matchett, and President‑Elect, Justin Tidwell, met with chapter leaders from around the world to discuss new ideas, collaboration, and ways to improve opportunities for our classmates and peers.

Our senior delegate Francesca Weiher and junior delegate Fallon Goemmer were also hard at work in the House of Delegates, presenting committee reports, advocating for international students, and helping adjust budget plans for future symposiums.

After two full days of meetings, AVMA treated all attendees to Disneyland, where we even got to spend the evening with Cappy for a night of Disney magic!

A new year is fast approaching. If you’re an incoming student at Texas Tech and interested in any of the positions mentioned above, don’t hesitate to reach out to one of us. And keep your eyes and ears open for We Are SAVMA Week!

SAVMA Field Day 2026👣🥇

Our SAVMA members had a blast at the first ever field day! They competed in events such as 50 yard dash, kickball, corn hole, water balloon toss, tug-a-war, and even a hot dog eating contest! 🌭

SAVMA is now accepting applications for TWO prestigious AVMA committees: 🩺✨
• Clinical Practitioners Advisory Committee (CPAC)
• Early Career Development Committee (ECDC)
This is your chance to advocate for veterinary students on a national level, build your leadership skills, and gain valuable insight into AVMA committee work! 💼🐾
🔹 CPAC: Represent the student voice on issues related to biologics and therapeutics, including drug availability, quality assurance, and more.
🔹 ECDC: Help shape resources and opportunities for recent grads while sharing your student perspective and building connections.
📅 Term: July 2026 – July 2027
