🐾 THURSDAY PET TIP: Is Your Pet's Microchip Actually Helping? 🐶🐱

Did you know that having your pet microchipped is only HALF the job? 😲

A microchip can help reunite lost pets with their families, but ONLY if the contact information linked to it is current!

🏡 Recently moved?
📱 Changed your phone number?
🐾 Adopted a pet that was already microchipped?

It's time to double-check that registration!

💡 DID YOU KNOW? A microchip is NOT a GPS tracker! It contains a unique identification number that a veterinarian or shelter can scan to help locate your contact information.

❤️ Your Thursday challenge: Take 5 minutes today to make sure your pet's microchip information is up to date. Those few minutes could make all the difference if your furry friend ever goes missing!

🥶❄️ FREEZE WARNING: KEEP THOSE FUR BABIES SAFE! 🐾

Brrr! 🥶 Temperatures are dropping, and Amarillo Veterinary Clinic wants to remind everyone to take extra precautions to keep pets safe and warm! 🐶🐱

🐾 Bring pets indoors! If you're cold, chances are they are too!

🐾 Provide warm shelter! Outdoor pets need a dry, insulated shelter protected from wind and freezing temperatures.

🐾 Protect those paws! Cold pavement, ice, and frozen ground can be tough on sensitive paw pads.

🐾 Check water bowls! Make sure outdoor water sources haven't frozen.

🐾 Keep walks short! Puppies, senior pets, and short-haired breeds are especially vulnerable to the cold.

🐾 Watch for warning signs! Shivering, weakness, lethargy, or unusually cold ears and paws may indicate your pet is getting too cold.

❤️ Remember: If it's too cold for you, it's too cold for your furry friends! When possible, bring them inside where they're safe and warm.

Stay warm, Amarillo! 🐾❄️

🐾 Thursday Pet Tip | A Little Extra Love Goes a Long Way! 🐶🐱

Did you know your pet may be hiding signs of pain or discomfort? ❤️

Changes in appetite, sleeping more than usual, avoiding stairs, or suddenly becoming less playful can all be signs that something isn't quite right.

🐾 Your pet can't tell you when something hurts, but their behavior can!

Pay attention to those little changes, and don't hesitate to contact your veterinarian if something seems off.

💕 Because keeping those tails wagging and kitties purring is what we're all about!

🎃🐾 TRICK OR TREAT… KEEP THOSE PAWS SAFE! 🍬👻

Halloween is almost here, and while the candy is a treat for the kiddos, it can be a BIG trick for our furry friends! 🐶🐱

🚫 Keep these Halloween dangers away from your pets:

🍫 Chocolate: Toxic to dogs and cats, especially dark chocolate!

🍬 Sugar-Free Candy & Gum: May contain xylitol, which can be deadly to dogs.

🍇 Raisins: Even small amounts can cause kidney failure in dogs.

🍭 Candy Wrappers: Can cause choking or intestinal blockages.

🚪 Trick-or-Treaters: Constant doorbell ringing and spooky costumes can frighten pets. Keep them in a quiet, secure room to prevent stress or accidental escapes!

🐾 VET TIP: Keep candy bowls out of reach, make sure your pet has proper ID, and never leave them unattended near an open door.

🚨 If your pet gets into Halloween candy, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic immediately. Don't wait for symptoms!

🧡 Let's keep Halloween SPOOKY, not SCARY, for our four-legged family members!

🐾 TUESDAY TIP: The Nose Knows! 🐶🐱

Did you know your pet’s nose is like their very own fingerprint? 👃🐾

Every dog has a unique nose print, and our feline friends have unique nose patterns, too!

💕 FUN TIP: Let your pets stop and sniff during walks! Sniffing provides mental stimulation and helps them explore the world around them. Think of it as their version of scrolling through Facebook! 😂📱

🐾 Happy Tuesday from all of us at Amarillo Veterinary Clinic!
