One of the hardest parts of loving what we do is that we truly miss our furry clients when we don’t see them for a while.

When someone hasn’t been in for several months, we always wonder how they’re doing. We worry. We talk about them. Sometimes we even think about calling just to check in.

So to all of our wonderful clients who take a moment to let us know you’re moving away or that your beloved pup has crossed the Rainbow Bridge…thank you. It means more than you know. While those messages can be heartbreaking, they give us peace knowing what happened instead of wondering.

Your dogs become part of our family, too, and we’re honored that you trust us with them.

A special shoutout to Knox and his family as they begin their new adventure in Tennessee! We already miss your sweet face, but we’re looking forward to seeing you around Christmas. Safe travels, and give Knox lots of love from all of us at Unleashed!

Before you reach for your shears, remember this: a dog’s tail and ears are part of their expression, communication, and personality.

As professional groomers, it’s our responsibility to groom to the owner’s request—not our personal preference. Unless the owner has specifically asked for the tail or ears to be trimmed, leave them as they are. Once that hair is gone, it can take months to grow back, and you’ve altered a feature that helps make that dog uniquely them.

Of course, there are always exceptions. If a tail or ears are severely matted, damaged, or have uneven areas that truly need to be addressed, those situations should be properly communicated with the owner whenever possible before the groom or with a quick call during the groom. If it’s something discovered during the groom and immediate action is necessary for the dog’s comfort or welfare, it should be discussed with the owner so they understand what was done and why.

Great grooming isn’t about changing a dog—it’s about enhancing them while respecting the owner’s wishes, preserving their natural character, and maintaining clear communication every step of the way.

Educate. Communicate.

🚨 New Grooming Superpower Unlocked: GSP 🦸‍♀️✂️

GSP = Groomer Sensory Perception

You know… that weird phenomenon where you’re just talking about a client…

👀 “I wonder what happened to Mr. Fluffy…”

📞 Phone rings.

“Hi! I’d like to get Mr. Fluffy booked. He’s just a little tangled…” 😅

Coincidence? We think not.

Forget X-ray vision or flying… we have the incredible ability to summon matted doodles with our minds. 😄

✂️ When Mom Helps with the Trim… ✂️

“I just cleaned up a few spots.”

Translation: One ear is shorter than the other, there are random chunks missing from the legs, the beard is now a goatee, and the tail has somehow become a paintbrush. 😂

Then comes the famous request:
“Can we just do a light scissor all over?”

We’d absolutely love to… but once hair has been cut unevenly, there isn’t a magic setting on our shears that makes it grow back. Our job becomes blending, balancing, and trying to make it look like it was done on purpose. Sometimes that means taking a little more off than you were hoping so everything is even again.

So if you ever get the urge to “just trim around the eyes” or “clean up the feet,” remember—we’re always happier to do that for you than to spend the appointment performing a furry version of reconstructive surgery. 😂🐶✂️

We promise we’re not judging… we’ve just seen enough kitchen-scissor masterpieces to know how the story usually ends! ❤️

There is something incredibly special about watching a puppy grow into a sweet old soul.

From those first wiggly puppy appointments, through the awkward teenage stages, to the gray muzzle and trembling legs of an old man, it is an honor to be part of their journey. We celebrate the happy moments, comfort them through the hard ones, and cherish every tail wag in between.

To our amazing clients—thank you for trusting us with your beloved companions throughout their entire lives. Thank you for allowing us to love them, care for them, and grow alongside them. Your trust, loyalty, and friendship mean more than words can express.

Every senior dog who walks through our doors reminds us that grooming isn’t just about looking good—it’s about preserving dignity, comfort, and quality of life in their golden years.

Thank you for letting us be part of your pets’ stories. It is a privilege we never take for granted. ❤️🐾

🐾 TRUTH OR TAIL ANSWER! 🐾

The correct answer is… TAIL (FICTION)! ❌

For most double-coated breeds, shaving is not recommended.

A double coat acts as natural insulation, helping regulate body temperature in both hot and cold weather while also protecting the skin from harmful UV rays, insect bites, and environmental damage. Shaving can permanently damage the coat, causing it to grow back unevenly—or in some cases, not fully recover.

Instead, help your double-coated dog stay comfortable by:
🐾 Regular brushing and de-shedding to remove loose undercoat.
🛁 Routine professional grooming.
💧 Providing plenty of fresh water and shade.
❄️ Limiting exposure during the hottest parts of the day.

There are exceptions. Medical conditions, severe matting, or a veterinarian’s recommendation may make shaving necessary. Every dog should be evaluated on an individual basis.

At Unleashed Inc., we’re committed to educating pet owners so you can make the best decisions for your dog’s health and well-being. ❤️🐶
