Just learned today is National Best Friends Day. Show us a picture of your four-legged or 3-legged, scaley, or feathered best friend.

Meet Lt. Dan. I'm HIS emotional support person. He's the strangest little dog I've ever had. I got him from the shelter. His leg was broke, so we amputated it. Then he developed IMHA and I personally paid for a blood transfusion. Then by that point, he trauma bonded to me and became a permanent resident at our house.

As this kid is about to be 16, I went down memory lane and found this gem of the BEST dog I have ever had. I found Teddy dumped with an entire litter during my first year in vet school. I loved him the moment I saw him. He loved me, the kids, cats and was great with new dogs. He was perfect. Teddy lived 15 years. He developed a mast cell tumor that quickly spread. He was good until he wasn't. My mentor put him to sleep while I held him. He loved going to the clinic, so he was at his second home and that was one of the hardest days for me. I still miss this dog nearly 10 years later.
