🏁💜 CANAM 2026: POWER UN-LEASHED RECAP! 💜🏁
Another CanAm in the books, and what a weekend it was!
In typical Power UN-Leashed fashion, we managed to bring 10 racing dogs, 2 baby dogs, 5 adults, and 2 juniors… and somehow came home with ZERO team photos and very few other photos. 😂 But hey, the best memories live in our hearts, right?!
🏆 THE RACING!
We kicked things off Friday with our junior team earning a solid 2nd place! Way to go, juniors!
Saturday brought some fantastic racing from both teams!
🥇 Power UN-Stoppable took home FIRST PLACE!
🥈 Power UN-Controllable tied for first but took home second based on the head-to-head results.
Sunday was another exciting day in the lanes!
🔥 Power UN-Stoppable entered the day as the first seed and was SO CLOSE to making it into the Division 3 finals. Unfortunately, they got a little TOO unstoppable and ran a spectacular race that resulted in a breakout by a whopping 0.002 seconds! TWO THOUSANDTHS OF A SECOND. 🤯 Apparently, nobody told the dogs that the third heat of the last race on the third day of a long, hot weekend was NOT the time to run one of their fastest times ever! 😂
🔥 Power UN-Controllable lived up to their name and found themselves in a THREE-WAY tie for first! They ultimately landed in third based on the day's best times. Talk about some close racing!
Every single one of our dogs ran their little hearts out and gave us everything they had, even when they weren't feeling 100%. We couldn't be prouder of them. 💜
🐶 THE BABY DOG REPORT!
Our up-and-comers, Nelly and Chill, got some valuable mat time this weekend, and we have to give a HUGE shoutout to our dark horse ROCKSTAR of the weekend… CHILL! 🌟
This sweet boy came to his very first tournament, warmed up in the lanes, AND even did some practice starts!
Chill recently returned from a month of training with Shannon of Omaha Speed Racers Flyball Team, and we are SO grateful for the time and energy they poured into him. He already had the foundations, but he needed more opportunities to practice in a busy, chaotic environment and discover that flyball can be FUN instead of scary!
Watching him put those pieces together this weekend was pretty darn special. 🥹 Tears were definitely shed.
A huge thank you to Altitude Flyball for welcoming Chill as a warmup dog all weekend and even letting him get some practice starts in! Those opportunities mean the world to us and to our baby dogs!
🙌 IT TAKES A VILLAGE!
We were running a pretty serious skeleton crew this weekend with just five adults and two juniors managing two teams of racing dogs, two baby dogs, and all the chaos that comes with CanAm. Oh, and one of our adults was judging, too!
We absolutely could NOT have done it without the wonderful people who jumped in to help us ball s**g, box load, and keep everything running!
Special shoutouts to Mission Uproar Flyball and Canine Dirt Diggers, along with everyone else who lent us a hand. We're sure we're forgetting someone, but please know how much we appreciate you! 🧡
🍦 THE FUN STUFF!
Of course, CanAm is about so much more than racing!
We had an absolute blast catching up with old friends, making new ones, and participating in a gift basket exchange with the Scallywags Flyball team. We LOVED all our Baltimore goodies! 🎁
We also made sure to enjoy some delicious ice cream from Hooks across the street and had a great time cheering on our friends in the finals!
And did we mention it was HOT?! 🥵 The heat and humidity were absolutely brutal, but somehow we all made it out without melting into puddles on the mats.
All in all, it was a fantastic weekend filled with fast dogs, close races, great friends, and lots of laughs. We are so grateful for this crazy little flyball community and all the people who make weekends like this possible.
Until next time, CanAm! 💜🐾
