FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN
Wednesday and Lilac have spent this week building confidence and learning how to function calmly in the presence of people and other dogs. This is not average dog training. This is slow, repetitive, methodical work that requires patience, consistency, and genuine care.
Every dog experiences fear phases throughout development. Sometimes it’s minor, barking at the BBQ pit or reacting to a strange sound. Sometimes it’s fear around places or experiences that were once familiar. And sometimes it’s complete terror. None of it makes a dog “bad,” and it is never about blaming the owner. It’s about understanding the dog standing in front of you and helping them work through it the right way.
Watching these girls grow, gain confidence, and slowly start trusting the world around them again is one of the most rewarding parts of this job.
Meanwhile, Axel has become the undisputed champion of recall reps. At this point, it’s honestly comical. That’s the reality of dog training. One dog might learn something in five repetitions. Another might take five thousand. The secret is consistency. Next week, Axel takes his recall work into public where the distractions get real and the standards get higher.
Rocco has also made major progress this week. Confidence established. Communication system introduced. We’re learning quickly that structure, mental stimulation, and clear expectations are the keys to his success. Once his brain is engaged, the rest starts falling into place.
Different dogs. Different struggles. Different timelines. Same mission every single week: build confidence, establish communication, and create Elite K9 Companions capable of thriving in the real world.
