ATTENTION! PLEASE READ!

These four dogs currently remain in Alton Animal Control. Due to the City of Alton’s Public Works strike, represented by the Teamsters union, other city workers will be maintaining the care of them. Outside animal networkers will continue to work to find rescue placement for Honey and Jojo from their personal pages as well as the two other dogs pictured below that were picked up today if no owner comes forward.

If any of these dogs are yours, please call the City of Alton Public Works building and leave a message. Until a resolution, messages and comments will not be seen by the Alton, IL Animal Care and Control page.

These dogs were picked up on Hampton Street in Alton. They are now located at Alton animal control. If these are your dogs, or you know who they belong to, please call 618–4 63–3553 as soon as possible. Proof of ownership required to claim.

POTENTIAL RESCUE PLACEMENT FOR JOJO AND HONEY‼️‼️‼️

We have had several people inquiring how to save one of these dogs, adopt, or foster one of them! Well here is your chance! St. Clair TNR & Rescue DBA Maggie's Mutt Mission AND Unleashed Potential Animal Rescue are both willing to back these dogs, but they have to have an approved foster to do so!! This needs to happen IMMEDIATELY if you are interested !!

Foster will have to ensure they will Foster until Dog gets adopted because they are full. Please comment below if you submit the application so we can assure they received it! Thank you!!! We have til 4:30 tomorrow (Thursday!) We recommend you filling out an application with both places so that hopefully one of them can back a foster!

Info on the two dogs!

Honey was surrendered yesterday so she does not have a stray hold. The person surrendering stated she found her several weeks ago and no owner was ever found even after searching and reporting, but she can not keep her.
She is friendly, but definitely a little barky with new people at first….we think it’s out of excitement/nerves more than anything else. She has made a connection with one of our officers in the short time she has been there, and full body wiggles for him. Honey also likes other dogs!! She is around 4 years old and 55 pounds.

Jojo is around 4-5 years old. He is a big, chunky fella around 75 pounds. He is a big dope of a boy. He is very friendly, and loves anyone he has met so far. He really likes to reverse his big ol b***y right up to you for butt scratches! 😆 He is GREAT with other dogs!

SCAM ALERT!! 🆘🆘🆘🆘

Alton Animal Control will NEVER collect pledges, sponsorships, or money for donations towards animals going to rescue!! if anyone reaches out to you and tells you to send the money to them, BLOCK!! Any pledges go DIRECT to the rescue or shelter that takes in the animals AFTER the animal is taken in by that rescue.

IMPORTANT! No pledges or donations EVER go through animal control. It is a scam!! A screen shot of the page that duplicated our page is below. You will notice if you click on that page, they do not have any followers. It is a fake page!!

Please, do NOT send donations to anyone claiming to be Alton Animal Control. Again…all pledges/donations are only sent direct from the donator to the licensed rescue or shelter AFTER they take the animal.

🐾🐾🐾Honey needs out by EOD TOMORROW along with Jojo. 🐾🐾🐾

Honey has $300 in pledged sponsorship to tagging rescue so far.

Honey was surrendered yesterday so she does not have a stray hold. The person surrendering stated she found her several weeks ago and no owner was ever found even after searching and reporting, but she can not keep her. She did get her vaccinated with a rabies vaccine and we believe her to be heartworm negative as she surrendered her with prevention given to her by her vet.

Honey looks to have had puppies not all that long ago, so we do not believe she is spayed. She is friendly, but a little barky with new people at first….we think it’s out of excitement more than anything else. She has made a connection with one of our officers in the short time she has been there, and full body wiggles for him. Honey also likes other dogs!! She is around 4 years old and 55 pounds. She is soooo sweet!!

All other dogs off stray hold currently have found placement except Jojo. His hold time is up today and needs placement by THIS Thursday!!

(Will update pledge amounts if additional people pledge) Zuzu has $550 in sponsorship pledges thus far, Dash has $260 in pledges, and Dottie has $430, and JoJo and Strawberry have $220 each. We are definitely accepting more pledges towards the rescues that taking any of them in order to help find them placement by the needed date.

Zuzu (UPDATE TAGGED FOR RESCUE!! is around 6-8 years old and 60 pounds. Age is just a number for Zuzu. She is bubbly, friendly, and loves other dogs. She has been great with kids she met that were previously unknown to her. She was tested with kittens and was not aggressive towards the ones in our care.

Dash - UPDATED TAGGED FOR RESCUE! is around 8 months old and 40 pounds. Dash is deaf but it does not affect his absolutely sweet personality. He has a typical young pup personality and loves everyone he meets! He came in with Dottie and likes other dogs!

Dottie- UPDATED TAGGED FOR RESCUE ($430 in pledges) is around 8 months old and 40 pounds. She came in with Dash. She loves other dogs and is a typical young pup. As sweet as they come and very friendly!

Strawberry- UPDATED TAGGED FOR RESCUE ($320 in pledges) is an older girl around 8-9 but still has plenty of s***k left in her. She is around 40 pounds. She is super sweet and wants to snuggle up to anyone who is ready and willing to giving her attention! She is dog friendly!

Jojo ($$360 in pledges) is around 4-5 years old. He is a big, chunky boy around 75 pounds. He is a big dope of a boy. Likes to reverse his big ol booth right up to you for butt scratches! 😆 dog friendly!!!

Zuzu has $550 in sponsorship pledges thus far, Dash has $260 in pledges, and Dottie has $430. We are definitely accepting more pledges towards the rescues that taking any of them in order to help find them placement by the needed date.

All animals must be placed by THIS THURSDAY, September 24th!! That’s is in 5 more days! We have these 3+ we have two more additional dogs that come off of Stray hold early in the week that we will also need to find placement for immediately.
