Red is our Pet of the Week this week!
From now until the end of the day, Sunday June 7th, Red can be adopted for only $50, half the normal adoption fee. the fee includes spay, heartworm test, microchip and all of the vaccinations.
Red came into the shelter April 27th with her 4 siblings as a surrendered unwanted litter.
Red is a bit shy but is gaining more and more confidence as time goes by at the shelter. The staff and volunteers have really pushed her and have help make serious progress with her social skills. She is often curious about visitors now and will come to the door to check it out.
Red is going to need some basic training including leash and potty training. She is going to need a patient and understanding home to thrive. She has recently been out to the play yard with her sister, and she really came out of her shell! This girl is eager and ready to try a new routine and some normalcy; she seems to do well with consistency and seems to want to learn.
Our team says they can see how kind and accepting she can be and hopes that the right person will come along and see it too.
Come meet Red today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

We are honored to share an article written about us by Best Friends. This is something not only we here at the shelter should be proud of but also the community. It takes all of us to build a pet friendly place to live and we thank you for the continued support.

How Alpine Animal Services in Texas transformed from an isolated shelter into a lifesaving resource for pets in their community and beyond.

Star is our Pet of the Week this week!
From now until the end of the day May 31st, Star can be adopted for only $50, half the normal adoption event. The fee includes spay, heartworm test, microchip and all of the vaccinations.
Star came into the shelter March 3rd as a surrender, no fault of her own, her owner could not afford to take care of her anymore.
Star has recently been introduced to other dogs here at the shelter and has done great, she loves to play! She can be shy with new people at first, she takes a little while to warm up, she seems scared to be here but, we are working with her to build some confidence.
Star does well on a leash, someone has definitely practiced with her. She also seems to be potty trained; she keeps a very clean kennel. She is a great listener and already knows some basic commands such as sit and laydown. She is treat motivated so this girl will be an easy trainer. She does have a lot of energy so plenty of exercise will be required and it wouldn’t hurt to have a dog buddy to play with.
Our staff say their favorite characteristics are that she has a shy, sweet demeanor when she gets comfortable and once she is comfortable, she likes to be close to you and be loved on.
Come meet Star today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Roy is our Pet of the Week this week.
Today is the last day to adopt Roy for only $50, half the normal adoption fee. The fee includes neuter, microchip, heartworm test and all of the vaccinations.
Meet Roy!
Roy came into the shelter found stray on March 27th. We could tell he was in need of a little love. He was covered in ticks and was showing signs of problems with his hips. We treated the ticks immediately and got him into the vet as soon as we could. He is now on pain meds for his hips, has had his teeth clean and has been neutered.
Roy has been in play groups and does really well with other dogs. He is not super active but is fine lounging around in the yard, he does prefer a human companion while out, he will look for you to come sit with him. He is an old gentle giant and has been fantastic with every person he has met.
Roy is a breeze to walk and seems to enjoy going on them with anyone willing to take him.
Our staff says that Roy is a trusting sweetheart who just wants to give kisses and enjoy a warm afternoon with good company.
Roy is currently in a foster home, to apply for adoption please go to https://otatwtx.org/adopt and fill out a brief adoption survey.

Oh Merlin, this grouchy middle-aged man is looking for a home as soon as possible and not a fan of being in a kennel environment. He was unfortunately surrendered due to him not getting along with the other pets in the home. He is looking for that special someone that has no other pets, is ok if he takes a while to adjust and might not be a cuddle buddy, at least not right away. His previous owner said it too several months but one day he was on her lap and on her bed happy as a clam.
We are open to him becoming a barn cat but must follow acclamation protocols, this guy has not been outside his whole life.
We are waiving his adoption fee, we really want to give him a chance at a home with a special understanding patient someone, we hope it is you! Please come visit Merlin at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.
