October 31st, Alpine Animal Services invites you to share a day with an adoptable dog during our monthly Adventure Buddy Day!
Before you go trick-or-treating, you can go hike a trail, take a drive or just cuddle on the couch with one of our adoptable dogs from the shelter. It’s a chance for you to hang out with a grateful dog and for them to spend time outside the shelter, playing, sniffing, strolling, and taking in the sights. Adventure Buddy Day is a fun, easy way for residents to get involved- no experience or long- term commitment required!
Why a day out matters for dogs in shelters
Programs like this helps shelters and communities build mutual trust, inviting people to experience what a shelter can offer beyond adoption and help to save pet’s lives. A day outside of the shelter can significantly reduce a dog’s stress, providing a welcoming break from kennel life. And when human participants post pictures and videos from their excursions on social media, it helps dogs get the exposure they need- doing the things they love to do- to be adopted.
Plus, it encourages community members to become advocates both for their local shelters and the animals being cared for there.
