What does a low-stress veterinary visit look like? 🐾

At Homestead Animal Hospital, we meet each pet where they are. For some, that means an exam while snuggled in a cozy blanket or comfort wrap. For others, it means sitting in a lap, exploring the room first, or enjoying a steady stream of treats while we work.

🐾 How Old Is Your Dog, Really? 🐾

Many people have heard that 1 dog year equals 7 human years—but it's not quite that simple! Dogs age much more rapidly during their first few years of life, and large breed dogs often age faster than small breeds.

That means a lot can change in just 6–12 months. In fact, for many dogs, a year between checkups can be the equivalent of several human years!

Regular wellness exams help us:
✔ Detect health problems early
✔ Monitor weight and nutrition
✔ Screen for dental disease
✔ Evaluate mobility and arthritis
✔ Update preventive care and vaccinations
✔ Discuss any changes you've noticed at home

Our pets can't tell us when something feels different, but routine exams can help us catch small issues before they become big problems.

We're so thankful to the amazing pets and people who have trusted us with their care this past year. A few of our patients joined in the birthday fun today, making the celebration even more special.

As a small, independently owned hospital, we're proud of the relationships we've built and the compassionate, low-stress care we provide every day. Thank you for helping make our first year such a wonderful one—we can't wait to see what the years ahead bring!
