Meet Nygma. 🐾

Last summer, Nygma experienced a urinary blockage that resulted in a seven-day hospital stay and ultimately required PU surgery.

Between treatment, meals, rest, and plenty of love from his mom, Nygma had quite the journey. ❤️ We’re happy to share that he has made a full recovery and is doing great today!

Nygma’s story is an important reminder: urinary blockages can become life-threatening emergencies. Straining to urinate, repeatedly trying to urinate, producing little or no urine, crying in pain, vomiting, lethargy, or loss of appetite are signs that your pet may need immediate veterinary care.

If your pet is unable to urinate, don’t wait—seek emergency veterinary care right away.

A special thank-you to Nygma’s mom for letting us share his story to help other pet families recognize the signs. ❤️

A happy ending for Primrose! ❤️

Primrose arrived at our ER in the early morning hours of October 14 after suddenly developing drooling, lethargy, and difficulty breathing.

After receiving care from our team, this sweet girl was ready to head home!

Here she is sharing a special discharge moment with Dr. MacDonald.

Moments like these remind us why we love what we do. 🐾

Prepared teams can make a difference when every second counts.

Our very own Emily Champion, Hospital Trainer III, RVT-ER/ICU, recently spent time with the team at Little River Animal Hospital for a hands-on CPR training session.

Opportunities like these allow veterinary professionals to practice lifesaving skills, learn together, and strengthen the veterinary community beyond the walls of our own hospital.

🐾 October is National Pet Wellness Month!

Wellness starts with knowing what’s normal for your pet. Changes in appetite, energy, breathing, bathroom habits, or behavior can sometimes be the first sign that something needs a closer look.

Sometimes care means listening to a heartbeat. ❤️ Sometimes it’s taking a closer look at their eyes. 👀 And sometimes…it’s simply meeting them where they are. 😂🐾

Because caring for pets isn’t only about medicine; it’s about helping them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for along the way.

For National Walk Your Dog Week, members of our AVSE team shared photos of their own pets getting outside, moving and exploring.

Whether it’s a neighborhood walk, a park adventure, a short sniff around the block—or even a cat joining the fun—getting outside together can be great for movement, enrichment and quality time.
